They're coming out with a new power head soon, and they just came out with the 8.0/12.0 forge batteries, so that's why these are being cleared out. But with that said, this is a great deal, thanks OP! https://www.milwaukeetool.com/products/3016-21st

yeah.. i haven't been impressed with Milwaukee's outdoor gear (pole saw, chainsaw, blower), i'm switching to Ego... just got their 765CFM blower, what a beast!!! waiting for a sale on the MST1603 trimmer with the new power head.

but i also don't mind having multiple manufacturers, batteries and chargers around... it ain't like the old days where they were either crazy money or the crappy NiCADs died all the time, instantly shake head

Ego is definitely great for blowers and chainsaws but the batteries are pretty heavy/bulky for just a power head tool, especially if youre using it as a hedge trimmer or something where youre holding it higher up for longer periods

Is this much better than the Greenworks (40v/60v/80v)? The price seems much higher than the Greenworks.

Milwaukee Fuel 18V tools are beasts and outperform 40V units all day long. I don't know the magic sauce other than maybe efficiency in their design.

I'm surprised this has decent reviews considering it's only an 18V tool. I haven't had luck with any ~20V outdoor tools and moved to all 40V a while ago.

I've had 2 of these and both had overheating problems. Pretty common if you look at the reviews on Home Depots site.

How is the vibration on this?
I'm really sensitive to vibrations.
I currently have an ego which is fantastic as far as that goes. But the battery is shot.

It's pretty intense vibration wise, project farm said it was the roughest or near the roughest to hold but it's still really good. My hands were jello after using it the first time but not as bad after. Very solid tool IMO.

I've had this one for several years, and while it's good, it's not great. The deal is worth it for the battery, though, and the "good" functionality of the trimmer.

The biggest problem is the head itself. While it's easy enough to load the string, it often gets tangled inside when you're winding it, and there's nothing you can do to prevent it. Once you reach that part, it'll stop feeding string, and you have to stop, take it apart, and restring. VERY frustrating. I tried three different strings (2 diameters, 2 manufacturers), and all had issues.

Using the trimmer is fun, and so much better than the Husqvarna gas one it replaced -- no priming and no throttle adjustments to worry about. Vibrates a bit less, too, so it's easier to use for long periods of time, assuming the string cooperates (sometimes you get lucky, and it doesn't bind).

I love my Milwaukee tools, but their outdoor gear is wildly expensive and not always worth it. They ask $1000 for the mower with two batteries, which is just insane.

It's not going to let you ship from a 149 zip, to a 249 zip.
I don't know if the deal will ship, but this isn't the case for me. Granted, there are no stores in my zipcode, the $249 store a few miles away is in a different zipcode; The $149 store is 10mi away the other direction.

We'll see if it arrives tomorrow or not, as I don't want to go out and pick it up tonight.

My Ace down the street had one. Thanks! Hopefully it's not cancelled. The kit is less than the price of the battery by itself at HD. I have all other milwaukee tools, so it's a no brainer. Hopefully I can snag a cheap pruning saw head at some point.

I've been using this for a few days and it's a good trimmer. 18V brushless has plenty of power.as you'd expect. In fact I dont use full throttle the majority of the time.

I had to restring it right out the gate because it kept getting tangled. The head design makes it easy to do that, you just hold the string down into the guides and spin the head. Since then no tangles (fingers crossed).

The weight will work your arms. I got used to it. You probably don't want your wife using it for too long.
