Dawn is exactly what dries out your tires. You know it's great for breaking down grease and oil right? Well guess what your tires are made of.

Unfortunately it isn't the same results. At least not when I tried with Dawn. It certainly is good enough for a lot of people but to get off brake dust easily you need some more intense chemicals. Adam's is great stuff

Be careful with this product, I ruined a set of aftermarket wheels by not testing a spot first. Not blaming the product directly, could have easily been me leaving it on too long or it was too hot a day to attempt using it, or it could have been the quality of the clear coat on the wheels. But it definitely didn't work out for the wheels I used it on, they are a splotchy mess now and I'll be getting them powder coated in the future as a result.

Yes—be very careful with this product because it is strong and works quickly. If you let it dry, it has the potential of damaging. That said—you can spray it on and dwell for a few minutes, and pressure wash off the rust producing byproducts of brake dust. Proceed with caution and expectations appropriately.
