Laptop with decent battery life and a 4050/60

950 268 September 14, 2024 at 09:51 AM Costco Wholesale
I am looking to replace a my laptop black friday or so

I am trying to find a laptop that has decent battery life. 6-8 web would be ok, more better.

4050 ot 60, 1 open NVME slot, 16gb or more memory - upgradable is a plus but I can live with 16 soldered,

Main use will be web and office and occasional photo and video editing. I am not a gamer but sometimes play a game.

I am confused by current CPUs. How is AMD on battery?
I am considering
Intel Core 7/9 Ultra, AMD Ryzen 7 7/8xxx Intel Core i7/9-13/14xxxx.
I am ok with lower cpu power for better battery

I considered these
https://www.costco.com/.product.1819622.html - only 1 NVME slot and on the high side

https://www.costco.com/.product.1835249.html - Probably not good on battery, a bit big, more CPU than I need

Help appreciated

The Core CPUs will be best for battery. I think AMD vs I7/I9- 13/14 is almost a wash.

There was a recent deal for the Dell Inspiron Plus that I liked (now expired):

Despite being a pretty powerful system with a 2.5k display, it got 10 hours of web browsing battery life in this review:

How did it manage that? 86Wh battery, which is a big reason why it weighs 4.5+ pounds, without power supply. That's better than a 6lb gaming laptop, but worse than a very portable 3lb laptop.

Just thought I'd share that to give you a nice all-around system to compare to.

Edit: This recently expired deal for an open box Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i might have been good too, because it has an extra SSD slot
