I have one of these from 10 years ago and liked them. I used the transmitter in the baby room with base unit in my bedroom. I used it to monitor baby room temp and humidity, so I can adjust the humidity. The transmitter died about 3 years ago, even though it was indoors. 6 months before it died, it was giving me weird readings with temp spikes and dips. I still use it now to monitor my own room but my largest gripe is that unless it's at max brightness (which is very bright), there is a very narrow viewing angle. Most people place it on a nightstand with the unit's kickstand pointed up, but I have it high up on a shelf on medium brightness it is slightly angled down. The glow was still bright and bothered my wife at night, so I lowered it to low brightness but it becomes hard to see (dim & viewing angle). It's tolerable at night, and I appreciate being able to spot check our room temp & humidity in a glance and have the clock as well.

These color weather displays don't have a clear view, even on slight angle. Get black and white display, it can be seen across the room from any angle.

Bought this model ~4 years ago, still happy with it. Really like the display, both the color-on-black and the arrangement of elements. (Many on the market have really goofy layouts.)

Remote sensor accuracy is good, at least empirically (compared against others or the base unit's).

Maybe get another one now "for a friend."
