Nah, it's nowhere remotely close to dead.. It's def. not quite ready to go all out Mainstream but there have been an absolute insane amount of advancement in just the last few Years which is substantially more then the previous few Decades combined.

This is just the beginning, dawg. The accessibility of the Quest 3 has opened things up for VR in a crazy way, and not just the price. The fact that my retired mom, who couldn't even figure out Super Mario, was able to set up a headset and play Walkabout Golf with me across the country in less than an hour, it still blows my mind.

I have tried the AMVR facial interface and the Globular Cluster facial interface - both of them have flaws that have made me lean more towards the stock interface every time. The stock one gets itchy sometimes, so I tried 2 of the most popular ones (listed above) and both of them had problems you have to compromise with most of the time being the actual foam of the interfaces just aren't as good as the stock one - and they put extra pressure on your face, especially around the nose, and kind of squeeze your face into a smaller cushioned area..
That's bananas. I mean I've only ever tried the stock one and the kkcobvr head strap and god it's a world of difference. Stock squeezes my head and I felt a lot of face pressure. The kkcobvr adds so much more support and comfort I could never go back to that crap

I agree the AMVR one isn't amazing but still better than stock IMO. There are so many different options now, though- I'm sure something else is worth checking out and returning if you hate it. Amazon's a good option for that.
It is for sure, but only if you aren't using some halo headstraps, for me it was the bobo. The interface stuck out farther than the halo part, which rendered the halo part basically useless

Oh yea I agree, I use the bobo M3 pro, makes a world of difference in the face pressure you're talking about. I also couldn't go back. I am using the globular cluster interface atm, but the foam could be wider and more flat, but more dense, similar to the design of meta's foam.. The ice silk fabric ones are really comfortable, but the foam is like always really squishy. The next best accessory would be controller extensions with grips for my quest 3 controllers.. its like i can't live without those either now. The extensions feel so much better, and the knuckle grip part makes quick movements feel a lot better.

It's not dead, just Meta losing 4B each quarter randomly and Sony made a PC dongle so they stop making first-party titles

The problem is battery. Advancements in battery design lag miles behind all other tech.

In the last 30 years, various hardware and software have advanced so much, yet battery design crawled behind.

A lot of mobile/portable tech is constrained by the damn battery, and battery, of course, constrained by chemistry.

Get the $200 quest 2, it's often on sale for that price. I highly recommend a halo style strap if you ever get one, they help a lot with comfort.
I missed out on the deals posted earlier, but seems like Quest 2 is out of stock every where. Hoping to get one for $200

You'd be better off picking up the Quest 3s that's likely to be announced at the end of the month, developers are starting to drop support for Quest 2 already.

It's probably going to be twice the price of a Quest 2. The leaked specs suggest that it doesn't even have a headphone jack.
