NV2 ssd is a bottom of the barrel qlc dramless option. I got two of 1TB during the Amazon sale for $30 a piece and sometimes there are system freezes if I download a big game. It may not be offered for $30 for some time, but I would choose another ssd if I would price it any higher. The $186 Amazon deal is a better one if you are not fixated on getting this ssd for cheap (adds $23 on top of the cpu) and upgrading your am4 system. For an additional $70, the mobo seems decently priced but not a great deal. Around the same price there are plenty of good B550 mobos offered with lots of vrms and good heatsinks. 5700X3D is not suitable for overclock and higher power profiles, so most of the mobos will do fine for its TDP of 105W anyway. Investing in the old am4 platform is not generally advised at this time, as the only upgrade from this will be the 5800X3D, which will not be worth ever at any given time in the future.

Buying AM4 won't offer any upgrade paths (unless you consider the 16-core 5950X for productivity and non-gaming purposes), but looking to the previous gen can still be a source for very good gaming performance on the cheap. Vast majority of games won't require anything better than a 5700X for a pretty good while; the GPU is way more important.

Depends. Do you like to swap out parts? AM4 doesn't have an upgrade path, but this doesn't need an upgrade for another 5-8 years. For me, I personally would get this 5700x3d bundle with the motherboard. If you go to pcpartpicker and add in ram its $47.99 for 2x16 32gb 3600 corsair ram which makes this $328. If you put together an AM5 build with a 7700x, its about $535.78. That is $208 difference. IMO, it would be better to put that savings towards the GPU or wait until you need an upgrade and use that money towards replacing the motherboard, cpu and ram when they have a bundle deal like this.

Right now have a prebuilt, not making that mistake again.
Was planning on buying a bundle from microcenter.
See this one with 7700x, it's $400 for motherboard,7700x and 32gb ram.
https://www.microcenter.com/produ...ild-bundle

They also have these, not sure which is the better buy under $450.

I went this route $138 shipped, took 2 weeks to arrive. Popped it right in my computer (replaced a 5600 that I sold for $90) and ran a few benchmarks to verify the IHS wasn't swapped or something. It is legit, all the scores and tests matched stock 5700x3d figures. I will probably wait until AM6 platform to upgrade.

I would still recommend going with the 5700x3d and use the savings towards the GPU. Someone said you can get this chip for $135 on ali express. You can pair it with the the MSI B550-A Pro board on Woot that is on sale for $89.97. If you must go AM5, hands down I would recommend going for the 7600x3d bundle for $449.99 listed under the 7700x in the ad. The 7600x3d is a Microcenter exclusive and just a few % slower than the 7800x3d. It will blow the 7700x and 9700x away in gaming and uses wayyyy less wattage (about 20-25% less). Also, this will get you into the AM5 platform if you choose to upgrade along the way, which I doubt because you would just buy a new bundle deal.

What video card are you planning on getting to pair with this build? I am also assuming you are gaming?

Will mostly use it for emulation, some games, but not at 4k.
Maybe 1440p, but likely 1080p.

Was looking at RX 7600 XT, but not too familiar with never cards.
Fine running games on high at 1080p.

Definitely go for the 5700x3d. Get the 6750XT video card on Amazon for $299. It is the same price as the 7600XT, but is 16% faster. Also, if you go with the 5700x3d, you could use that $100+ savings and go 1-2 GPU tiers up to either a 6800 at $399.99 (36% more performance than a 7600XT) with better built parts or a 7800XT at $469.99 (62% more performance than a 7600XT).

I wouldn't go as far as saying another 5-8 years. and if starting from scratch, definitely AM5, even if you have to go with a R5 7500F/8500G (cheapest AM5 CPU/APU - a cheap AM5 motherboard is ~$100). You'd only go with AM4 if money is that tight and that ~$50 difference is having food on the table.
