I bought one of these about a year ago. Did not come with a charging cord for trickle charging the onboard battery. Found this that I can use with my battery tender. Thought others might benefit.

I wish more people would get these for emergencies.

That said, campground campers PLEASE LEAVE THEM HOME home when you go camping in a campground. Boondocking, fine, whatever. But if you're in a rustic, no power, no flush toilets forest service campground with lots of tent campers, please show some restraint. And if you absolutely have to turn it on (I dunno, maybe you need to charge your cpap battery?), do it for like an hour max.

I was just camping over the weekend and someone had this brand and was proud of it. They spent the whole weekend inside their trailer (beautiful weather, low 70s, no bugs!) and ran this nearly nonstop. Why?

I know it says only 57db, but there's more to it than just volume. At least in a natural setting. Close to it, it seemed quietish on the surface but we were aware of it running all over the campground. Even 20 feet from a loud mountain stream, you could sense the drone. Would it bother me in my neighborhood if I knew people were without power? Heck no. But in the woods? Skip it.

Thank you for listening to my rant.

I think this is the best price I've ever seen for dual fuel electric start of this size.
Nice find.

This only is 120v output? How did you connect it to your transfer switch which is 240v?

Funny this shows up on my feed today. Had power out this morning, grabbed it from the garage, wheeled it around to my external input to my transfer switch (Reliance Controls Transfer Switch 3006HDK 8000 Watts Generator 6-Circuit 30A), used the battery start, fired it up, plugged it in and then went down into the basement to start bringing circuits online.

Started with my primary fridge, had a slight stumble and stalled, but may not have been warmed up. Went back out, restarted generator and it energized the fridge circuit, no problem. Then I proceeded to add the garage fridge which also has a soda machine (so 3 fridge/freezers), kitchen outlets (computer and small items), garage doors, furnace fan and the circuit with my router. All came up, generator ran smoothly, was surprised! I thought I might have to alternate fridges, but I know at least 2 were running, possibly 3. Very impressed. I think I paid over $500 for mine back with a Costco deal, but it did what it needed to do. Of course, after being out for several hours, I restored power with the generator and after 10 minutes of running, power came back on. I let it run for another 20 minutes and it was fine and then I switch all circuits back. The computer didn't even power off cutting back to the grid. Next project is to just store the generator out near the plug in some type of generator house so I don't have to drag it across the yard in possibly inclement weather or snow.

Seems like a steal for just over $300 so long as the refurb is good.

I also use it for camping and run the AC overnight. Has worked well.

Bought this last year when it was on sale for like $289. I still haven't' put oil in it and started it but it sure looks pretty in my garage lol. I also own the 1600/2000 watt that I use for camping due to its light weight and it hasn't had any issues.

Note: It does NOT come with the oil, funnel, link cables or wrench. It only comes with the propane connector / valve and comes in a generic cardboard box marked "Refurbished".
If you're down south, should probably break it in and change the oil before the storm develops in the gulf. Yes, everyone should break in and change oil for all generators if you want it to last. That's why after every storm, Florida Craigslist and marketplace had tons of used generator for sale, "used for few hours to few days." It's not gonna last if you don't properly break-in and maintain it. Likely as why they sell refurbished units too.

If the generator is great what were you talking to customer support about?

Parallel question here. Storing gasoline for this. It looks like this draws from an external gas tank. So, how do you store gas long term? Fuel stabilizer, and how long is that good for? Does external temp of where you store it matter in the longevity of gas+stabilizer? ie Texas heat, or Michigan cold? Lets say you get a 25 gallon tank, add stabilizer and its time to get more. Can you just add more stabilizer, or do you need to get a fresh 25 gallons. And if you have to get a new batch of gas, can you run the old gas through your car, or what do you do with it?
Our hurricane season is only between November and February. During this period I store my gas in the 2 gal gas container for up to a month. At the end of the month I dump the gas into the car gas tank and get fresh one from the pump. That way I always have fresh gas ready.

Not sure about your use case. If you need full 25 gal it probably means the genny is somewhere far away from a gas station or the gas station near it won't operate during the outage. Then I would use propane instead.

I bought this last month. It had minor scuffs but the motor area was spotless. It shipped quickly. Tested it and everything worked. Now I need to find a battery charger that fits it because I don't run it enough to maintain the battery. Glad it also has a recoil start.
I emailed firman and they gladly sent me a charger for free

Personally I've found the battery doesn't self-discharge much, it's the control board the has vampire draw. If I just open the side panel and disconnect the ground it will still start a year later.

Thats good to know. Would have been nice to know earlier. In any case, now that I have done the mod, I dont have to open the side panel, just connect up the battery using the weatherproof SAE connector. I didnt use it for about 9 months, and the battery was dead and wouldnt charge up, so this mod prevents this as does your trick.
