I walk 3+ miles daily along with hiking in our Sierras 2-3x a month and normally wear Merrell or Danner boots. Last year I got a pair of the Columbia boots (not the exact same of these) and should have sent them back for having a weird design/uncomfortable foot bed and the sole wore out in 4 months. The rubber on the sole was likely designed to be grippy and that's fine, but they wore out quickly. One boot leaked. Columbia is not the same quality now compared to 10 years ago.

I have been using this type of trail shoe/boot as my snow weather footware for years. I wouldn't recommend it for places that get several feet of snow. But for everyone else it'll perfect. You get way more flexibility than the traditional snow boot. The main thing is it's waterproof with great traction.

Does anyone have any experience with these for daily use? I used to get Merrells. They don't hold up like they used to, but still comfortable and better than other brands (especially my Skechers I currently have that started splitting after a couple of months and they refused to honor their warranty). I haven't caught a deal on Merrells, lately, but I, at least, like the look of these and need a new pair of shoes.

Columbia boots are great if you like your shoe falling apart on a 15 mile hike and you start bleeding from your feet trying to hike back. Never again. Salomon if you value your life friends.

These comments have been helpful. I've been a Merrell guy and haven't found a new pair yet. I've been tempted to snatch a pair of something from another comparable brand if I find one with goretex preferably. But I haven't been able to pull the trigger on Columbia footwear yet.

Think I'll pass until I find something with goretex and good reviews.

Went with the Merrell post for 50% off Moab shoes. Got them with Gore-tex 🤞🏻.

I don't hike in these. I use them for their waterproofing and for the traction on slick surfaces. They wear out pretty quick, but everything I wear wears out quickly. These kept my feet dry for several weeks and I deal with a lot of pool water. The waterproofing wore out in about 3 months. I will take dry feet for 3 months for 48 bucks. Draining pools makes backyard swamps.

Before someone mentions mucks, those thing are horrible to work in all day in the heat and they chaff calves (have to wear long socks). I only wear them while cleaning concrete or stripping decks and can't wait to get them off.

Columbia shoes that claim to be waterproof NEVER are. Plus if they send you a defective item or wrong size they charge you to return them. F Columbia.

Amazon has the mud/black color for $55 (size 12), other colors/sizes may be available at that price.

$9 returns.

I refuse to buy shoes from places that don't offer free returns. Far too high of a chance of not finding a comfortable fit.
