Nope. None of them will port in 4k. You have to buy them in 4k to port 4k.

They only auto upgrade to 4k if purchased direct from apple, these are from Amazon, so will stay HD when ported to apple

You're not wrong, but he's not wrong either. Video compression is pretty decent these days so you may not notice as much difference over streaming anymore, but you will notice on the audio. Compression there for streaming vs on a disc makes a huge difference.

Harmy's Despecialized edition is where it's at. I can't really make use of these versions.
What's that?

In short, it's an artistic adaptation loophole. But it's effectively as close to the original version as possible, restored in 1080p. It's all that "Han shoots first stuff", but also removes a bunch of bad computer generated stuff added in 1997 with laser disc sources, such as the extra Jabba scene in a New Hope and the awkward singer at Jabba's palace.

There's a separate, but loosely related, 4K project.

Is this cap? Everyone else confirming no 4K, ports HD in iTunes...
I just bought it on Amazon, I have both Amazon and Apple TV connected to Movies Anywhere, I went to Apple TV and all of the movies with bonus features show up, and I looked at the movie details for all of them and it says 4K so yes, apparently it upgrades to 4K on Apple TV if you have your Amazon connected to Movies Anywhere which is actually a pretty nice deal πŸ™‚

Yet for some reason you are going to get downvoted and told you are wrong. I just posted pics and you can plainly see my receiver shows what signal comes in and what it outputs but everyone believes one dude that has not provided any justification for his claims. I have so many movies I did not redeem or buy from Apple that are 4K on Apple TV. I didn't even have an iPhone or any Apple software until 2 years ago yet all these movies that were linked from Movies Anywhere are 4K for me there but not where I entered my code. Let them miss out I am tired of this thread.

I purchased through Amazon, and I am seeing full iTunes, extras and 4K content at my Apple iTunes library.
Just purchased and I can confirm it's playing in HD on Apple TV and my iPhone. Not sure if you truly got 4K. I see the 4K logo in my Apple TV app, but the video file is playing at 1080p.

Great Deal!
will i get to keep it or will D take away perceived owned digital content down the road? i've already noticed many prior purchased titles are gone from my Movies Anywhere/Fandango/Amazon/etc library.

Thanks. This part is a bummer:

As a derivative work, Harmy's Despecialized Edition cannot be legally bought or sold in the United States and other countries with treaties respecting US copyrights, and is "to be shared among legal owners of the officially available releases only".[2]

Yep, so buy this digital version and then your conscience is good to get Harmy/4K releases.

Personally, I'm satisfied that I owned the original trilogy on DVD and I only am getting these new versions for those.
