I purchased the AX4 for $36 last month, and just returned from using them for three days of hiking in New England. They performed great, as well as (or better) than the brands mentioned above, at least their offerings with a similar MSRP (the AX4 is the Terrex line's budget shoe). Definitely more walking shoe/boot than sneaker, which was good for handling all of the rocks and roots on NE trails. Much more rigid than my wife's Free Hiker 2.0s. Most reviews mention the Continental rubber outsole and 4ish mm lugs. They were as advertised although we didn't encounter much wet weather. Averaged about ten miles per day (nothing crazy, that's already more than my wife's idea of fun). I didn't experience any blisters or anything. A few things to note about sizing. I purchased the wide version because that's what was on sale and I read some reviews mentioning the mediums ran narrow. I can't speak to the mediums. Though I don't normally wear wide shoes, I didn't find them to be too wide, especially with thick wool socks. My feet aren't especially narrow though. I wear an 11.5 to 12 depending on the brand/shoe. Big caveat with these: as mentioned in most reviews, size up at least half a size (maybe a full size even). I ordered the 11.5 and with shape of the toe (chopped/flat), if these were any smaller I couldn't have made them work. Once we were moving I didn't have any trouble or really notice them, but I still wish I had the extra half size up for a little more room in the top of the toe box.

How do adidas hiking shoes hold up to brands like Merrell Keen or Salomoon?

I don't know how these fit, but I've bought Terrex a couple times in the past and they were NARROW AF.

Anyone know how the Anylanders compare to the non-gore-tex Trailmaker 2.0 from a previous deal?

the free hikers in particular are my favorite. They use continental rubber and has lasted way longer than my speedgoats.

I got the TERREX Unity Leather Mid RAIN.RDY Hiking Shoes

And I recommend going half a size up. Initially got size 9.5 but had to go up to size 10 and it's a great fit. Highly recommend going half. Asize up on Adidas terrex shoes

I wish they'd retro the Response TRs from the 90s.

I also don't see them at the moment. Although in my experience, even Wide adidas shoes are pretty tight on wide feet.

You hiked in them for 3 days and returned them? I could never do that. I only try them inside my house and on carpet, if I'm not 100% sure I like them then I still brush any dust off the soles, use canned air to remove any signs of use like fuss or any debris all over them and return them as new. Imagine if you're an eBay seller selling brand new shoes or clothes and people used them for three days and return them? You can't no longer sell them as new. It doesn't matter if it's a big company.

My understanding was he returned from his 3-day hiking trip in New England, not the shoes.
