Edit: Prices for microcenter's 7700x and 9700x bundles appear to be fluctuating, the price has increased by $10 to $399.99 and $449.99 respectively since my initial post.

The price of this bundle appears to have dropped $10 to $440, but it's still unfortunately not a very good deal for most people. Microcenter's 7700x bundle with the exact same motherboard and ram is currently $390, $50 cheaper: https://www.microcenter.com/produ...ild-bundle

The 9700x isn't substantially superior compared to the 7700x in windows for most common use cases (such as gaming, with a performance uplift of ~6%). Unless you primarily use linux, or have specific avx512 productivity workloads that are a primary use case for you (and even then you'd probably be better off looking at a higher core count zen 4 part), the 9700x simply doesn't deliver performance sufficient to justify the premium.

As a side note, for those with a higher budget and mixed use cases involving both gaming and productivity workloads, microcenter's $650 7950x3d bundle that also includes a substantially superior motherboard is another better value option: https://slickdeals.net/f/17769876-amd-ryzen-9-7950x3d-16-core-processor-msi-x670e-mag-tomahawk-wifi-mobo-g-skill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-ram-kit-microcenter-in-store-649-99
Always helpful to add to these premium combination deals that no CPU heatsink/fan is included.

Good luck!
Jon
you're going to have to update the bios with a flash drive because the motherboard does not work with the CPU out of the box. You'd expect it to, but it does not. I have this combo.

Can confirm. Spent last weekend trying to get it to work, wasn't able to after multiple flashes and multiple boards. Build a PC staff said their knowledge bar would do the flash free but I wasnt able to get either of the motherboards I had on their test bench. Opted to return everything and get a 12th gen Intel bundle because I was defeated and wanted something to just turn on.

Almost giving away these non-X3D chips. They're so terrible in comparison.
no, x3d only has an advantage in some gaming situations, while performing worse in productivity and editing apps.

https://community.amd.com/t5/pc-p...d-p/695209

if you are gaming at 4k in particular, non-x3d would generally be more cost efficient, because 4k gaming is usually limited by the gpu not the cpu.

Supposedly these 9000 series CPUs work better with higher RAM speeds and new MBs to accommodate that will release this year

7600x3d is pretty close to 7800x3d in performance, from my understanding the 76 is a result of chip binning aka slightly deficient 78s

My thoughts exactly. BF/CM right around the corner and these PC parts will surely be cheaper.
