The is one of the fastest SSDs for this size format you can buy and uses the E27T controller according to this:
https://www.tomshardware.com/best...steam-deck

I have this in a magsafe nvme enclosure that I use on the back of my iPhone 16 Pro Max to record ProRes log 4k/120fps video with spatial audio. It works great.

Two bad I got it last week for $20 more. FYI, even before this price cut it was still cheaper to buy two 1TB of these and two nvme magsafe enclosures then getting the 2TB version. Now it's even more lopsided.
I use a magsafe 10,000 mAh battery The connector that comes with it goes from my battery to the magsafe nvme enclosure that attaches to the magsafe ring I applied to the back of the battery.

Then the 10Gb data plus PD power together goes into the phone (minus what the NVMe enclosure uses)

Battery Pack (5,000 may be better but I like a BBP)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CCS1KZZT
The following is used for the enclosure to phone connection. I used the included cable with the enclosure for the battery connection.
Cable

Adapters
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C244K2HC
In the adapter picture the bottom left adapter goes in the nvme port, upper left into the phone and the cable is out of the way.

Just to repeat from earlier, it's cheaper to get two enclosures and 1 TB M.2 than it is to get 1 enclosure and 1 2 TB M.2.

4k ProRes log 120fps with spatial audio = 35 minutes of record time. 60fps much more about double and 24fps double the time again.

Weird that this is the same model name as the one I bought, but has a higher read/write spec and is 5 bucks more. There was a MP600 "CORE" which is QLC and slower but there's nothing to differentiate this from the MP600 I bought other than read/write speed. Regardless, the drive I got with the lower spec saturated PCIE 3 x4 so it's definitely a good drive. Using it in a Dell 7210 tablet.

I'm assuming this won't be good for the surface pro 8 because it's a gen 4?

Do you use it with an iPhone using only the iPhone power over usb c and without using external power?

Do you know if the 2TB model of this drive would also work with an iPhone in an NVME enclosure?

Do you recommend a particular NVME enclosure for use with an iPhone?

if im not trying to fit this into a steam deck or anything of the sort... is there a difference in form factor / shape/ length over a 2280 size? im mostly looking for a portable drive to edit files and move things around before archiving them.
I like the idea of a smaller drive vs a longer drive but if there is a difference in speed and heat then maybe id be best with a longer drive. i am looking for a decent sized drive with good/fast speeds to make changes on and transfer off my phone and other devices. any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance

Your better off getting a $6 2280 adapter and using a 2280 drive which is also cheaper.

These small drives have low endurance ratings as well 600tbw.

Wait, how are you fitting a 2280 into the Go? I thought it could only fit a 2242 and below. Is the adapter allowing you to place the drive somewhere else? If so, where? Thanks for the info, and sorry about all the questions!

Yes this is the "R2" version with newer controller but the same product name. I ordered the 2TB on release and didn't have an issue. But for those that order make sure the model number includes R2 at the end when you receive it as unfortunately I feel this is one that Amazon could easily mess up.

This amazon link OP posted only has 1 review and there is a duplicate listing on Amazon with 400+ reviews but out of stock. Somethings seems out of place with this one. Maybe I'll just grab it from Corsair for my ROG Ally.

Edit: Thanks for pointing out there is a different of generations between the two. Why can't product names be more obvious in between differences.

Listing with 1 Review [amazon.com] vs Listing with 400+ Reviews [amazon.com]

The one the OP listed is the new generation. The second one you posted is the older generation with slower speeds. It is not a duplicate listing.

Different products with confusingly similar names. As mentioned in this thread, the one the OP posted has the model number ends in R2. It is an updated version with TLC NAND - which is in the product title on Amazon and has been out for a few months.

The second link you shared does not end in R2, has QLC NAND in the product title and has been out for a year. It also has a different controller and is much slower.
