I have this in a magsafe nvme enclosure that I use on the back of my iPhone 16 Pro Max to record ProRes log 4k/120fps video with spatial audio. It works great.
Two bad I got it last week for $20 more. FYI, even before this price cut it was still cheaper to buy two 1TB of these and two nvme magsafe enclosures then getting the 2TB version. Now it's even more lopsided.
Then the 10Gb data plus PD power together goes into the phone (minus what the NVMe enclosure uses)

Battery Pack (5,000 may be better but I like a BBP)

The following is used for the enclosure to phone connection. I used the included cable with the enclosure for the battery connection.
Cable

Adapters

In the adapter picture the bottom left adapter goes in the nvme port, upper left into the phone and the cable is out of the way.
Just to repeat from earlier, it's cheaper to get two enclosures and 1 TB M.2 than it is to get 1 enclosure and 1 2 TB M.2.
4k ProRes log 120fps with spatial audio = 35 minutes of record time. 60fps much more about double and 24fps double the time again.

I read the same stuff but decided to give it a try and found the temps are lower than the original drive.
Probably people trying to sell backplates started parroting the high temps narrative with a 2280.
Original drive was hitting 90+ degrees.
P41 max 75 during long intensive writes and usually hovering 52-60 while gaming and that is "temp 3" which hwinfo reports as the controller. Temp 1 & 2 I'm assuming is the nand and dram are much lower usually 30-40s.
Case closes fine, no bulging at all if you use a vertical adapter. There is room for a thermal pad too.

Do you know if the 2TB model of this drive would also work with an iPhone in an NVME enclosure?
Do you recommend a particular NVME enclosure for use with an iPhone?

The cables and entire mess is behind the phone and the only thing YOU see is the adapter in the bottom plug.
The back side does not interfere with the wide angle lens. I didn't want any of those crazy rig setups to hold the battery and SSD and this is it.
Just tested a 30 second video with everything at max and it was fine. So it looks like yes. This M.2 is pretty good with power usage according to Tom's.
Post 35 has links to everything I used on the phone including the case and a picture of the setup.. yes that battery is a huge 10,000 mAh.

Keep in mind the power loss protection capacitor can take up to 5 minutes to fully charge. Any accidental disconnection accidents will be covered after that according to the manufacturer.

Temps are max 75 when downloading games on a fast connection. During gaming around 52 to 60. It's so much faster as well.
I used the "CY Card NGFF NVME M-Key 22x42mm to 22x80mm Male to Female Extension" from Amazon

, but these new SSD have a higher idle power draw compared to the old one.
5.0w vs 4.0w
And 5.6w on the 2tb version.
The iPhone supports power output for 4.5 w, hence SSD enclosure with power delivery would be needed
But I'm surprised to see comments over here that say that they are using this SSD fine with a normal enclosure without PD
Can someone care to explain please?
