Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

Can the second one be used as mesh and the ports back feed devices?
You mean if you setup a child node and then plug a cable into one of the back of the child nodes for a laptop?

I ordered 4 in the last deal at $20. Does woot do price match for recent orders?

*edit actually I think it was from Amazon, sold by woot. So maybe not.

I tried it with my Meta quest 3 as a dedicated wireless link with Virtual Desktop and steam link. It performs well so far, and at $60 cheaper than Meta's own wireless solution, is a good deal.

YMMV, but I bought one on woot for $20 last time and submitted a return request. In the process, you can opt to send them an email, which I did. I requested $5 back because of the current code, or else I'd return and re-order and they ended up refunding my entire order!

Whew guys

So I got these on the $20 deal. I run them on stock. They run as a mesh. They are attached to my existing Asus router which runs my custom firmware. So the first Linksys LN1301 is on bridge mode and is the 'parent' node and all the others are child nodes. I turned the radios off on my Asus router and I just use that for parental controls / NextDNS / device management. It works well this way.

The coverage inside and outside my big old house is great. I love it. Wifi speeds are much faster than they were with the Asus AC router. I recommend them.

Can anyone point me to any guide on how to set up the LN1301 behind Tmo home internet router?
Easiest option: get one or more of the LN1301s. Pick one, connect it to your T-Mo router by the ethernet cable, power it on, and go to its admin page. Set it in Bridge Mode. Wait a bit and then go to the LN1301's admin page (http:// linksysXXXXX.local where the XXXXX is the numbers on the bottom of your LN1301). This is now the mesh parent unit. Follow the steps to add mesh children. (They are linked multiple times in all these threads). Add as many as you want.

are most people using this with stock software or flashing to OpenWRT? I just need one for a mid size apartment and not sure if I really should be that concerned with Linksys downhill reputation.
I'm on stock. I am unconcerned with the perceived bad reputation of Linksys.

Does the lack of updates matter as much if this is just used as a wired access point?
I am not concerned, myself. If it's an AP it's behind a router/firewall and not directly exposed to the internet. To me it's like asking if there's a security update for a switch...it's just urgent. However, anyone can chime in if I'm wrong.

Due to physical size, I would say no. This thing is the size of a breadbox.
That is a very small loaf of bread....

Because I'm daft and didn't pay attention: these can't be used as a mesh network _unless_ one unit is a master node. Meaning, no mesh with Xfinity router.
You can run them as a mesh on bridge mode, and set the SSID and password to be the same as your existing router. I guess that's kind of a jerryrigged mesh with the Xfinity router then. However, I tried this, and in my case, my existing router didn't play nice with the mesh units. Despite running lower speeds, it wouldn't hand off to the mesh units like they hand off between each other.

From a previous post:

Only thing I'll add is that I had to reboot the child node after the steps,

and then repeat those steps one more time. Got a 3 node wireless mesh working and a 4 node mixed wired and wireless mesh working.
Thanks...got 3 of th3se from the last deal and working in mesh mode wonderfully. Speeds are better than eero pro 6 (4200) with less lag with 60+ smart devices...no crashes etc.

Wish there was a stable build of ddwrt to run VPN on these...

There are a couple toggles for things related to mesh but not a whole lot of other configuration options. You'll probably need to move to DD-WRT or OpenWRT for that.

Got a Deco M9 Plus and now 2 of these ln1301. Wonder what would be the best setup for maximum coverage and performance? Can they be used together or is it better to go with one brand vs. the other?

Just confirming is anyone able to use this as just a wireless access point? I couldn't find the setting on mine didn't know if I was overlooking it. Makes me set it up as it's own network.
