For this to work, your phone must:
- Work on the Verizon 4G/5G network with other carriers
- Have a physical SIM card slot (will not work for eSIM)
- Be unlocked so you can port it to other carriers
- Fail Spectrum's IMEI check (not really required, but no reason to do this if it passes the IMEI check)
It worked for my Tracfone/Samsung Galaxy a54.
Instructions:
1) Go to https://www.imei.info/google-imei-generator/
2) Generate an IMEI for a Google Pixel 6 Pro.
3) Sign up for the deal using that IMEI. They will ship a physical sim card for free.
4) Activate your phone using that card.
It's as easy as that. It worked. If it doesn't work for you, just cancel. No loss.
Great deal for me - I'm on a grandfathered $25/month internet plan, so for $25/mo, I'm getting high speed internet AND phone service!

Good to know. Will give it a try in a year.
"Please enter the Social Security Number (SSN) and date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY) for the primary account holder" I have internet service with them, and I'm not buying their phone, I'm using my own phone. Just for service need to enter SS & DOB? Why? I understand it need to verify, but my online login account is not verified? If not how I'm making payment to them?
Yes, to validate against your information already saved in the account. I didn't know I gave them my SSN when signing up. Usually I give 123456789 or 0s.
If you streamed just regular standard definition video, you could stream videos all day, every day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and only use only 730 gb and month. …Over 1000gb a month seems excessive.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a software dev and I use my phone a TON, but I'm almost always on WiFi. WiFi doesn't count towards data.
If you want to keep the number, you probably may want to go through that hassle. If you can have new phone number, cancel your plan now and call them on Monday I guess.

Which apps do you use or share the reddit sub for good reliable apps list . Thank You.
I moved a mile away. I had been paying $85 a month for Spectrum 100mb internet. A few days after the move, they offered me 300mb internet for $29.99 a month plus free mobile phone for a year. I took the $29.99 internet, but nothing else. I am sure that many get great service and deals from this company, but that has not been my experience. I also read that the new president of Spectrum wants the company to pay customers when service goes down. But, local Service has been down at least three times in the past month and not a single offer or official apologies. The real reason they want to give mobile phone service is to increase retention of customers.
All my unlocked phones are not compatible and I guessed that I have to buy the phone from them in order to get this deal.
This is why I use Google voice. Can have a new cell number anytime and it doesn't change the number I have used for over 10 years.

Have Spectrum as "bundle apartment" package so don't even pay them directly BUT had to set up account to get the cable box, which also lets me in on this deal as well as the free S24 deal promo from earlier this year
To get the totally free line was pretty staightforward: log in, confirm identity, add the 0 plan to cart. I screenshot everything
I have Tello currently, which I like a lot. But free is free, and unlimited is unlimited. Put in IMEI of my unlocked Pixel 9 and it accepted it. Said "other/not listed" for carrier because Tello not listed
Checked out. Didn't realize it'd do this, but my Tello service immediately got cut off
Got email from Spectrum about order. Logged in to Spectrum account via app to do the activation process. Had me get port out account number and PIN (found on Tello website easily)
Took maybe 5 minutes for port out process, Spectrum had progress bar and all. Once successful, I was told to remove old SIM, so I erased that Tello esim. Then got push notification to install new Spectrum SIM
Worked like a charm, overall. Very pleased!
Will transfer back to Tello in a year (which is also very easy to do!)
