We've been doing this for months. I'm a business account executive for Spectrum business. Good deal here.

Does Spectrum allow you to switch to a different phone online like MetroPCS?

I've tried to get them to switch to something like youtubetv but they are still in the year 2000. FWIW, they also still have this thing called a landline Its a little like a cell phone w no screen, no texting and you have to leave it at home
Why you make up such nonsense? Why would you want a cord dangling from your cell phone? Sounds ridiculous.

This worked to get an "unsupported" Android phone to work with this deal!

For this to work, your phone must:
- Work on the Verizon 4G/5G network with other carriers
- Have a physical SIM card slot (will not work for eSIM)
- Be unlocked so you can port it to other carriers
- Fail Spectrum's IMEI check (not really required, but no reason to do this if it passes the IMEI check)

It worked for my Tracfone/Samsung Galaxy a54.

Instructions:
1) Go to https://www.imei.info/google-imei-generator/
2) Generate an IMEI for a Google Pixel 6 Pro.
3) Sign up for the deal using that IMEI. They will ship a physical sim card for free.
4) Activate your phone using that card.

It's as easy as that. It worked. If it doesn't work for you, just cancel. No loss.

Great deal for me - I'm on a grandfathered $25/month internet plan, so for $25/mo, I'm getting high speed internet AND phone service!

In the system it would register with the IMEI you gave them.

Even when you receive the sim card, you have to call them and update them the new IMEI to make it work.

yeah, legacy CDMA quirk of locking the SIM to a specific IMEI.

This was not the case for me.

It worked, and I never gave Spectrum my real IMEI.

I tested incoming and outgoing SMS, MMS, Phone, and data. Everything just worked.

The only quirk is that when I sign on to the Spectrum website, it says I have a Pixel 6 Pro, when I do not. I'm sure if I call for support, that may become an issue.

Just to confirm, your device is unlocked?

Yes.

It was locked on Total by Verizon, got unlocked, switched to US mobile, and now switched to spectrum.

This won't work with a locked phone.

Thanks, I gave an iPhone 8 imei to customer service when they were sending me the SIM card. After activating it, I popped the SIM in an at&t (not sure if this is unlocked because T-Mobile network pass doesn't work on this phone) and I'm still paying installment on this phone* it worked fine with the spectrum SIM card. I got a message saying the imei is updated or something similar.

* When I tried to use unlock service on at&t website, it says I need to wait 60 days to unlock it

just called T-Mobile and they still claim my phone is locked at at&t.

Can I use this plan just for a mobile hotspot? What are the limitations on the hotspot?

Couldnt pay me to use Spectrum internet again. Inconsistent speeds and connectivity and the worst technical support on the planet.
Sounds exactly like RedPocket, Verizon, AT&T, T-MOBILE, Mint, Xfinity, Cricket, etc., etc., etc.
EVERYBODY says that about every provider.

Do you just call and say I want to cancel my plan? I'm also paying $85 a month. But I don't really have a second option.
Try using your hot spot. If it's acceptable speed, tell them Well, I can go back to Mint and have my cell and Internet for $$. So what would YOU like me to do?
