For this to work, your phone must:
- Work on the Verizon 4G/5G network with other carriers
- Have a physical SIM card slot (will not work for eSIM)
- Be unlocked so you can port it to other carriers
- Fail Spectrum's IMEI check (not really required, but no reason to do this if it passes the IMEI check)
It worked for my Tracfone/Samsung Galaxy a54.
Instructions:
1) Go to https://www.imei.info/google-imei-generator/
2) Generate an IMEI for a Google Pixel 6 Pro.
3) Sign up for the deal using that IMEI. They will ship a physical sim card for free.
4) Activate your phone using that card.
It's as easy as that. It worked. If it doesn't work for you, just cancel. No loss.
Great deal for me - I'm on a grandfathered $25/month internet plan, so for $25/mo, I'm getting high speed internet AND phone service!

I just got Spectrum mobile today and am stunned at the horrid speeds
15 mbps down and 1.5 mbps up on 5g in major urban area?!
I had Tello before this and it was very fast even just on LTE
I'm hoping I've been throttled in some way and Spectrum needs to give me full internet access. Or something
Otherwise, this is a no go. Back to Tello I go

15 is fast. I get 1 or 2.
Going back at least a year or longer every month spectrum would email me this "get your free line of mobile service for a year" deal.
They would also offer the "free year of mobile" to me from time to time when I would call in to negotiate a lower rate for the internet/cable service I have had with them for years as a tactic to convince me to keep internet/cable service with them at the higher rate they were raising it to for the following 12 months.
I just find Spectrum to be a shady AF company as they raise rates whenever they please, this is for internet/cable bundle I've had for many years and lately this year alone they quote you a rate and then you get the bill and it is higher than what they "confirmed" with you and then I'm back on the phone again with them reading back what the last rep "confirmed" with me and then they proceed to start throwing all kinds of credits back to you only to once again raise the rates in the next bill negating any credit you thought offset the previous indiscretion.
But I'm getting tired of this dance and are getting ready to pull the plug once and for all.
Apologies for the rant - just putting my two cents in for what has been a 7 year express elevator to hell with Spectrum.

You're kidding me
I'd think this holds weight...
"G Network. Typical download speeds will range from 34-702 Mbps, with peak speeds of nearly 2 Gbps in select locations, and upload speeds for 5G range from 6-75 Mbps with peak upload speeds over 100 Mbps.
ii. 4G LTE Network. Typical download speeds of 9-69 Mbps and upload speeds of 1-13 Mbps."

No need to buy new phone. You can use your own device and switch to Spectrum's plan. Activation can either be done immediately or within 30 days.
Verizon is the service provider for them. 30GB for Unlimited with 5GB Hotspot. They said speed should be around 800mbps from Verizon.
By the way, $0 activation fee and $0 other taxes as well.

I just tried and got a whopping 1.1 Mbps and 1 bar at my place.
Jesus
I'm holding out hope that this is just something wrong on their end. Gonna call
If it stays this slow, may be forced to go to Tello...

I'll go outside and try again
Went outside in an open field in a populated area in MA. 3 bars.

Scam? Dude it is free 1 year of service. Anyway, try at 3AM, I guarantee that it will be a lot higher.
