Most BANKS use a system called Chex https://www.chexsystems.com/ to check your history related to deposit-accounts (checking, savings). Your Chex history has info like how many deposit accounts you had opened within the past 1 months, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 24 months. Some banks use the info to weed out the "churners". Some banks' criteria are stricter than others. Your Chex history also shows how many times you had overdrawn, wrote bad checks, etc. The BANKS don't really care about your credit history unless you're applying for credit cards. For some reasons, many Credit Unions pull your credit history even when applying for deposit accounts.

You can request a free copy of your Chex report from the link above. Here's sample of a Chex Report https://www.chexsystems.com/-/med...B8B1FB087C
US Bank is pretty lenient about which deposits are considered DDs. Lots of people on www.doctorofcredit.com [doctorofcredit.com] reported that ACH transfers from Ally, Chase, CapOne, etc were accepted as DDs to get the bonus. I just opened a US Bank Smartly Checking on 9/24/24 on a promo (expired 9/26) that gives $450 bonus for $8000+ total in DDs within 90 days. I pushed $4100 from Ally to US Bank on 9/26. Will do another one in early October.
$400 is a good bonus, but $5000/90 days in DD is a pretty high hurdle, but doable for me.

- Paid biweekly.
- Week 1-2: $0.01 from first paycheck just to make sure the direct deposit posts. (I always do that)
- Week 3-12: $1000 each from the next five paychecks.

84 days max. If that first penny doesn't post though, I'm screwed out of the $400.

Think I may go for the Truist deal instead. $500 in DD is easier.

Do payments from eBay qualify if you have a eBay business?

The new Smartly card will get 4% cb only when paired with a Savings account with a daily balance of $100,000 or more. US bank savings account rates are pitiful unless you keep $25,000 or more AND have a Smartly Checking account. Too many requirements.
FYI: their brokerage and IRA count

A 4% cb card might be beneficial for someone who charge across many different categories. For us, we use different cards for different categories (Amex BCP 6% for groceries, Citi Custom 5% for fuel, Bread Amex 2% for misc items). For car & home insurance payments (every 6 months), I open new cards and use them for sign-up bonuses.

*^&$%^ USBank. Banking with them for 22 years. Then we get a letter in the mail, they wanted to give us "ample time", they were closing all of our accounts in less than two weeks. "In Accordance with our Deposit Account Terms & Conditions" was the reason. Called, went to the local branch, no one could tell us. Even escalted it. Nothing. We are now with a local credit union.

Can anyone speak to how good their bill pay is? I'm looking to leave Fifth Third because I pay every ebill when they notify me but then on the due date get a notification that I haven't scheduled my payment when I've already paid it, really annoying.

We absolutely love Fifth Third bank and don't have issues will bill pay. Maybe go to the branch to ask more questions about your issue.

"Pushed," as in transferred?

Let's say you have Bank A and Bank B connected to each other. If you log into Bank A and make a transfer to Bank B, that's a PUSH. If you log into Bank B and set up a transfer from Bank A into Bank B, that's a PULL.

You use a PUSH or PULL as the situation warrants. For example: Bank A has a limit on the amount that you can transfer out per day/week/month but no limit if withdrawn from an outside bank. In that case, you log into the outside bank and do a PULL instead of doing a PUSH from bank A if the amount you want to move exceeds Bank A's limit.

I applied near the end of September, from a flyer mailed to my address. I entered the promo code on the page that asks about your personal info, income, employment, etc. See attachment.

Since it reads "Deposit" and not "Transfer", that's a good sign. The two attachments below show the transactions when I did a US Bank deal in March 2019 for a $250 bonus if two Direct Deposits totaling $1000+ were made. The account was opened on 3/5/19 with an initial deposit of $25. The next day there were two trial deposits from Ally Bank. Then the day after that there were two transfers from Ally ($1000 and $500) which were recorded as Electronic Deposit. On 4/9/19 the $250 bonus was received, listed as Adjusted Interest.

I'm using two $4100 Transfers from Ally (in Sept and Oct) for my current US Bank deal for the $450 bonus. I'll post in November whether or not they pay out the bonus.
Have you gotten your bonus yet? 2 people said they got their 450 2 weeks after.
I used the push method on 10/10/24 and it's Nov 2 now. Still no bonus.

I did my pushes from Ally on 9/25 and 10/15. Haven't received my $450 bonus yet. How many pushes did you make? The deal requires two or more deposits.

In the thread about US Bank Checking Bonus deals on DoctorofCredit.com , member Gadget Bank Bonus Geek (who makes a living doing bank deals) posted "U.S. Bank (usually) pays out checking bonuses on a predictable schedule. If you met the requirements in October you will likely get your bonus on November 14th (2nd Thursday of the following month)". That seems to match what member karateboi said in this thread (made deposits on 9/3 and 9/30, got $450 bonus by 10/16 when he posted).

If that's the case, hopefully it holds and we get our bonuses. Thanks man.
