This worked for the A35 deal with TW. No need to pay the $3 to port out the GV number to activate the phone. You just need to get the phone IMEI listed under Manage Lines ==> Devices and then use that on the activation page to request a new number. After that your account will show the new number and the service end date. I got the email the phone shipped and was able to activate the phone with a new number in my city instead of the GV number I used to order.
This is what I'm hoping for as I don't want to mess with the nightmare of porting out my Tmo number. Hopefully I can activate on a random number, wait 60 days, unlock and then take it and my Tmo number to visible, mint or US Mobile.

Has anyone successfully called in to get a second+ phone before ID verification expires?

Note: Placed an order, ID verification expired 2 weeks later, was able to order a second discounted phone. FYI.
When you order the 2nd phone do you "add a line" or go back thru the purchase a phone process? Anything else you have to do to get the discounted phone?

Thanks

chase has 25% cashback on total wireless ,MAX $15 back for me
Does your chase offer explicitly list total wireless or one of the other related Verizon mvnos but works on TW as well? I get visible and previously had tracfone but not one explicitly naming TW.

I called TW (866-663-3633) and received the free promo price for the Samsung A54 with $30 discounted second line just now.

I was aware of the issue highlighted earlier in the thread about changing the shopping cart after the verification process. Unfortunately I wasn't aware that we're supposed to click on the $65 plan when adding a line (which I later on found out only shows as discounted to $30 once you're about to checkout).

When I got the plan page, I thought I was supposed to see the $30 price then, and when I didn't, I clicked on Account to make sure it recognized my account was logged in. As soon as I clicked back on the cart (which I never emptied or altered) the promo free phone price was gone, never to return, argh.. Tried the whole process again in incognito, different browsers, etc but no luck.

I didn't want to take a risk that the promo might be gone in 2 weeks when my ID verification expires. Also, my current Edge $65 plan expires before then, and wasn't sure if that would cause an issue with getting the $30 2nd line price. So I gave calling in a shot. Was transferred twice to the 'promotions department'. Surprisingly that rep was able to pull it off, got the A54 for $30 + tax. He oddly requested my TW account password, as well as my full credit card details (including 3 digit security code). It's as if he logged in to the TW website as me and was able to get the promo price working on his end. Order went thru fine and received confirmation email, and now I changed the password and set up alerts on that CC just in case.

tl;dr - to get a 2nd free phone, follow these precise steps: login, go to Manage Lines, click Add a Line, sms confirm, select 'Add a new line', select 'I need a new phone', choose your free phone (click 'see details' under the phone you want), select 'I am adding a new line', verify sms of your port-in line, go through the ID verification process, and finally select the $65 plan. Your cart should now show the free phone and $65 plan discounted to $30.

Do NOT click away from the cart at any time after the ID verification, or you'll lose free phone price (and have to wait ~2 weeks until verification expires, or call in and ask for the promotions dept and hope your rep can save the day like mine did).

Hell no. I am not talking a loan from you. Just buying a freaking phone. You shouldn't need my SSN for identity verification. No thanks. Sketchy as hell.

You don't need a SSN. Just a picture of your Govt. ID and a selfie.

Day 1: Order with GV number or any number which is not Tracfone related. This is just for getting message.

Day 2/3/4: Whichever day the phone ships, immediately (dont delay beyond few hrs) login to your account and go to Manage Lines page. Select the IMEI from the dropdown. Go to activate page and select Activate now under "New phone Purchased through Total Wireless.". Click I want a new number radio button and enter your zip. Input the copied IMEI in the next page and follow the next prompts for activation. Once the activation is successful, the Manage Lines page will display the phone number instead of IMEI.

Day 3/4/5: Whenever you receive the phone, just pop in the sim card in the phone and text UNLOCK to 611611. You should receive confirmation message with unlock date 60 days from the day you activated the phone online. Enjoy your new phone.

PS: I am yet to try step 3 as I haven't received the phone

For those of us who care, has anyone been able to unlock the bootloader on this thing ("OEM Unlock" option in developer options). Haven't found much info online, but it looks like this is a Verizon network phone that can't be bootloader unlocked.

Anyone been able to successfully order a second phone this week? I went all the way through the verification process and then received an "unable to process order" error. My cart is empty when I log back in.

Don't want to keep trying again if they've closed this option.

It is a Verizon specific model (xt2405v vs the standard xt2405-1), but there isn't anything different about the hardware. I think it's just a matter of time given the popularity of these prepaid deals on this phone due to price and specs. Between reddit and some of the usual forums, I've already seen a couple times people have claimed to have successfully unlocked the bootloader, but not divulging exactly how. Huge grain of salt given that of course, but I think activity along those lines will start picking up over time. If not, it should still be a perfectly usable phone once carrier unlocked regardless except for the usual issues on whitelist carriers like ATT it looks like

Dude that takes time for devs who want to do it have to actually go through the phones binary and figure out how it can be done, and code it. It's not a simple process nor does it ever happen on new phones. It only happens after time has passed, years, if it can even or will even be done... Go get a few year old pixel they are made for that.
