Could you please elaborate?
I have Firestick 4K version and I have been streaming 4K content with Kodi with no issues.

Don't forget an additional 20% off with trade-in. And an instant Amazon gift card for the trade-in value that you can use towards the purchase.

Got 20% off plus a $5 instant gift card for trading in an older Fire TV Stick 4K for a current gen 4K Max.

Last I checked, if you don't send your trade-in by the due date (45 days), you'll still get the additional 20% discount, but will be charged for the instant gift card.

Trade-in doesn't have to be a streaming device:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/browse....9187220011

EDIT: Terms state that the 20% rebate is displayed at checkout but will not be received until submission of the trade-in device. So, the transaction may not be considered as complete by Amazon until trade-in is received or expired.

I would look at other reasons than the stick if you're having that issue. I've had the 4K and 4K max, and somewhat recently upgrade to the new 4K max. I've streamed 4K content on Kodi effortlessly, even files 80+ GB's. Either you need a debrid service, or your internet isn't capable of streaming 4K, but it's not the stick.

Any reason to get one of these if your TV already has all the apps? twitch, netflix etc
If that's all you need and it's working well for you, there's no reason to get one of these.

TV apps & remote are often not as user-friendly, won't allow sideloading (Eg: Kodi) and have more limited video & audio codec support.

Sounds like not worth trading in and paying a higher price still.
Nope, it's never been lower then $35, except for targeted coupon codes.

What are the pros of having a fire tv stick or the console? The only reason I might go for it is because I have bluestream cable (FL) and with their app (only on fire tv) you can stream cable from anywhere. What other pros and or cons of having a fire tv stick or console? Appreciate any insight.

I've got 5+ Fire Sticks and none of them compare to the new $20 Onn box from Walmart. Much faster, and easy to install custom launcher, and the remote is a dream. All the Fire Sticks run out of memory quickly with only Kodi installed and they're all slow even with custom launchers. I like my TV boxes to have more than 1 app on them and actually be responsive. Specs are awful considering they're basically running the same hardware from 5 years ago and specs were middle of the road at launch.

I've been selling our collection of Fire Sticks and replacing with Onn boxes and making a profit on top. There's a better spec $50 Onn box, but honestly the $20 one does everything we need it to and the only reason I can see for buying the $50 one is if you require ethernet. But the $20 one maxes out our internet connection at 300mbps already which is plenty fast enough to stream anything, and over wifi I'm getting over 500mbps to my server in the other room too.
Where to get the Onn $20 stick? I didn't see it at Walmart. Thanks.

Thanks for the post. I ordered the 4K Max last week at $59.99. Just chatted with Amazon and they are issuing a credit balance (not to my credit card) for the difference. I would not have thought to look without your post.

For sideloading apps that wouldn't be possible on any TV's software. Kodi is very popular with fire stick users.
That is until they take away the abililty to sideload apps even on fire stick. I heard that is coming soon.

8 GB storage is limited. OS probably uses 3.5 GB initially. But you can probably use a USB-C hub to add more storage, like I did with the Chromecast 4k. Basically it seems similar to the Chromecast 4k 2021 that sells for $50 (soon to be deprecated). The $50 Onn goes up to 3 GB RAM / 32 GB storage (perhaps competes with the new $100 Google streamer).

It looks to me like the $50 onn one has a better remote and a built in google home that will control the tv hands free, compared to the new google streamer. I'm seriously considering returning the fire cube I just got and going that route. I do love how the fire tv will show my ring doorbell when someone is at the door. But Google tv is an overall better os I think. The dumb thing is, I only need one because the 3000 dollar tv I just bought looks terrible in hdr and won't let me turn it off. The only solution I can find online is getting something like the fire stick where you can turn off dolby vision.

Got an instant 20% off plus 3 bucks for the stick whose remote I lost. Thanks !
What happens if you do not send the Trade-in?
I have an old firestick that I haven't used in years, but I am not able to find it. Thinking of going with the trade-in but not sending anything in unless I can find it somewhere.

Which launcher are you using? I've had the $20 Onn box since it came out but haven't changed the stock launcher yet.

Agree. I have the $50 Onn Box and was shocked at its quality. It's fantastic You can also change the settings to Apps only Display that looks like Apple TV.

Tried the new Google TV Device. A let down. I went with the Onn $50 device

I'm thinking of switching to Apple TV. I'm getting sick of the wonky remote and the constant ads of the fireTV.

I also have the Onn 4k Pro 2024 (which I'm really happy with). Do you have to change the launcher to display apps only or can you do that in just the settings with the default launcher?
