The market is flooded with air purifiers.

Can someone show me a legit study that shows the performance of this unit and how it stacks up against other air purifiers?

You don't really need studies, look at AHAM CADR rates. This is a fine unit from a reputable brand with one thing to know - you can't turn off the ionizer (which doesn't release harmful levels of ozone, but may make particulates floating in the air make your throat itchy, it only seems to affect some people).

If you're okay with the ionizer, I would recommend this unit.

That sq. Ft claim is highly optimistic.

I think any claims of any purifier in terms of how much volume of air it covers is mostly just BS unless you're in a clearly defined enclosed room that has it's doors shut at almost all times.

I've run Winix air purifiers in every bedroom of the house for a decade now (due to kids with allergies, oldest has them extremely bad). Also last year, I picked up a Dyson Bp03 last year for an open area living space to help with filtering out cooking smells.

TBH, the bedroom purifiers mostly stay because all the kids were raised since birth with white noise so it helps get everyone to sleep faster and easier. They do a great job filtering out dust and such, but the reality is that the air it's sucking in is probably large parts air it just spewed out + new air it's sucking in from outside the space you're intending to purify, so not sure how efficient any air purifier really is. It definitely does help (Winix detects farts every single time!), but I'd take the sq footage ratings with a huge grain of salt as I think it has alot more to do than just CFM.

The one thing I liked about the Bp03 marketing shpeel is that it's exhaust fan is designed to throw the exhaust air as far from the intake as much as possible to help ensure it's actually sucking in "dirty" air. Kinda like how the Vornado fans are designed more to circulate room air vs. direct air flow in your face.

But just like running AC, if you're anything short of an enclosed room with a door shut, there's going to be a lot of "mixing" from other spaces, so the only real way I feel to get a truly cleaner air environment is to evenly distribute multiple purifiers strategically across your whole house. Comparatively, using a "3000 sq ft" air purifier would be trying to rely on an AC window unit to cool 3000 sq ft, the air simply will not flow that efficiently throughout that space unless it's a sealed rectangle w/ no walls.

BlueAIR is notorious for wildly high MSRP and constant "huge" discounts.

Thank you for the informative reply. I, too, have multiple ( 7 ) Winix filters throughout the house and they do a good job.

This versus the Coway 400 for a non finished basement? Not sure of the exact size, but it's decently sized

Overall, I find the Blueair models to have the best sound profile, but Coway makes excellent products. The 400 has easier pre filters to clean and the ionizer can be turned off if desired.

I have owned this one for a few months and couldn't be happier with price/performance. App control is convenient and automatic mode will increase fan speed if the poorly ventilated oven/stove is turned on for longer than 15 minutes.

I know the end-game with air purifier companies to get you to buy the filters from them for the life of the product but do third party filters work just as well? Or rather, do third party filters have QC issues that can make them not as effective?
