An activist investor took a 10% stake and is demanding the changes, and claiming Southwest won't recover unless they do what they're told (which means cut corners and make flying as miserable as possible while destroying all good will with customers in pursuit of short-term profits). The activist is also just full of ****, because the main reason southwest stock is taking a beating is because Boeing's problems and delays have totally screwed SW in the medium-term (because SW is an all-737 fleet). When 737 deliveries start again (particularly of the long-delayed smaller variants) SW stock will bounce back all on its own. Of course, the activist investor ignored all of that in their BS slide decks. But it's working anyway, and the CEO is making a bunch of terrible changes that will totally screw SW and relegate them to competing purely on price by 2026.

There's more to it, but i guess that's the short version. Just lots of weak management being preyed upon by terrible "investors" all in the name of turning a quick profit while screwing over the company. It was good while it lasted.

Is this a real sale? Or another promo with typical prices for the majority of flights?

Southwest be capping more than policticans with their "sales."

There are better ways to waste time than to browse their sales.

Dang, I ended up doing a short call to get a refund/credit on a flight I just booked a few days ago and saved $140. RT with Early Bird for 2 passengers to Hawaii from StL for $1k. Seems decent.

Canceled my flight from LAX -> SMF that I bought for $97 and rebooked with promo code at $37 in January. Not bad at all. Ended up with $60 flight credits 😝

lol they jacked up the prices and now showing as discount. The prices are same or a little more for a flight I have been following.
Same here. Flight I was tracking, with the discount applied, is $1.02 less than a couple days ago. Fake sale shake head

Literally no discount was applied to any of the fares. They're the same price with or without the "promo" 🙄

Any deals here, or is this JASWS (Just Another SW Sale)?

"Activist" investors and private equity takeovers are destroying American businesses left and right. Wringing every last penny from a company and then dumping them to rot and go bankrupt. The pursuit of short-term gains and higher stock prices is the Achilles' heel of the American economy.

I just saved $110 by rebooking a previously booked flight with this new fare. Love you, Southwest Airlines and Slickdeals! Thanks and repped to the original posters.

Most of the sale fares are less popular times or days.

But yes, they seem to have raised the prices anyways.

Flights out of SAN are pretty sweet, and they include Thursday, Friday and Sunday for a change. Example: many non-stops to SMF are under 5000 RR points r/t

Why is Orlando not on the list? I didn't see it excluded anywhere.

I was actually able to switch my flight to leave and return to MHT instead of Boston. The first time I was going to book, they wanted $400 to leave from MHT and BOS was $260. It came out to be a credit of 1.57 using this sale.
