That's unfortunate that that's all their upgrade is, then. It should've included a hygrometer, too. And the 6-sensor per Nest limit is so stupid.
I agree, I wish the new sensors showed humidity as well.

Hopefully the next version of the Nest protect (smoke/CO detector) will be able to do both, display temperature and humidity in each location, that was we don't need these sensors in each room.

I have a single zone AC but parts of our home are too warm in the summer. Will this sensor help in any way?

Georgie Power sent me a post card for a deal on a Google Nest. Maybe other power companies have similar offers too.

In that you can put those sensor in a warm area and your thermostat will cool the whole zone until that room hits your target temperature, yes. Will it allow your thermostat to cool that room more without cooling the whole zone, no.

I don't need this deal, but thought I would comment. I have one sensor upstairs where I sleep and it's great to be able to set the temperature of the thermostat to acclimate to that sensor (it's 2-4°F higher upstairs all the time) from 9pm until morning. Having a Nest in general has reduced my electric bill by around 30-50% (higher in the summer when the AC is going a lot) and it has paid for itself many times over.

These only work with the E and learning thermostats, not the "Google Nest Thermostat."

They do, all the time. No literally, like all year round. There will be an occasional "deal" in Hot Deals written by someone that just recently discovered this fact.

I encourage anyone buying new tstats, air filters or LED bulbs to check out their local utility's website to see what their deals are. Their deals are subsidized by all utility customers and the taxpayer. Generally there are limits - for example my 2 local utilities (electricity and gas) have a limit of 3 per customer per calendar year (that are eligible for the instant rebate) [they don't cross-reference, so if you have electricity and gas, you can basically get 6 tstats a year]. Note that for the most part, purchasing through the utility (or the 3rd party the utility selects for fulfillment) just instantly applies a generally available rebate that you would otherwise be able to use at a participating retailer (e.g. Home Depot, Lowes, etc). Basically the utility website saves you a bit of time/effort from applying for the rebate separately. Net pricing may be different as well.

For example, here is the website that Eversource CT runs for its customers:

https://www.poweredbyefi.org/ever...stats.html

You can get a standard Nest for $15 AR

Note that SOME of these rebate programs *require* participation in a resource leveling program that adjusts your tstat settings during times of peak load (e.g. AC in the summer). SOME of these programs are optional and SOME actually pay you to participate. YMMV.
