The one thing I still hate about these Nest sensors is that you cannot specify your own schedule to switch between which sensor is used to detect temperature. For example, I want to automatically switch to use my remote sensor between the hours of 12am and 6am and then switch back to the main thermostat at all other times. I can't do this because the Nest app only give set time windows to switch between sensors, e.g. 7a-11a, 11a-4p, 4p-9p, and 11p-7a.

They did release a new sensor alongside a new thermostat/learning thermostat. The new sensor can give you the average temp of your whole home based on all the sensors. Not really a big selling point for me to upgrade.

I have a similar situation. I placed a sensor in that particular room and set the thermostat to use that sensor during the day. It keeps the room right where I like it. But keep in mind that other rooms will be colder.
That's where the new sensor's strength lies. You would be able to "meet in the middle" to make sure everyone is somewhat comfy.

Like the others have said, it will help keep that room closer to the temperature that you want it. But the single zone system will cause it to be too cold elsewhere. I think should add this sensor, but find a way to circulate air in the house better to even out the temperature distribution.
