warranty is a seller's promise that the thing being sold is as promised or represented. no product warranty covers damage outside of specified usage, aka.. power surge, or fire, or liquid damage, or use it outside of the operational temperature range...

"An act of God is an event that is outside of human control or activity, such as a natural disaster like a flood or earthquake. In legal terms, an act of God is an event for which individuals are not responsible and cannot be held legally liable for loss of life, injury, or property damage. "
the issues is that some thing happened to the power grid that sent a surge of power either result from the power loss, or when the power was reapplied, that seem to be the issues redditor was experiencing, and nothing can help you with that, you need a power surge protector or UPS, and fill claim to the surge protector or UPS

Edit: A lot of reviews mention this switch gets dangerously hot. AVOID!
Yes, you should have your electronics on a power-protecting/conditioning device, optimally a UPS, but unless everyone's going to run out and buy an in-line/double-conversion UPS, guess what, you're still experiencing some variance from "clean" power, and apparently Zyxel is voiding people's warranties for that.
That's ridiculous.
I was excited when I saw this, as I've been happy w/ Zyxel's stuff over the decades, but instead of paying a lawyer and/or policy maker to shore up their legal agreement, they should have spent the money on the power handling of their device, so it could function for consumers in consumer-grade environments, not the expectation of conditioned power. Hard pass for that.

I've had it for a month or two. The web UI isn't great. But so far it seems to work fine. I got it to use VLAN tagging with my home lab (Proxmox cluster).
