I rip my seams often, and never have needed one of these. All you need is a lot of Haagen Daz and a deep squat.

It takes a bit of time, but i often use these to rip embroidery and logos off swag from events. Ive got some hats and vests i've de-logo'd and it works out pretty well of you do it before you start wearing it

I looked at this item because I've tried to "reseam" my own pants since I was a young lad and have had trouble digging into the old stitching. I hope this is helpful!?
Also, I read your comment and had to reply bc I don't recall this in my grandma's kit but she too had a butter cookies can with sewing tools so I was wondering if that's just a universal thing—the grandma's tin cookie sewing kit tin?? Lol

Yeaah! Bigger handle means more leverage and less hand slippage which is needed for heavy-duty threads.

$1.89, with tax. Thanks, OP!

These are great for shirt tag removal, when you get a tagged (versus tagless) shirt, that's scratchy on your neck. Just rip the stitches that hold it to the shirt seam (not the seam, itself).

I used one of these recently to remove the patches off my kid's taekwondo 🥋 uniforms as it was time to size them up…this tool works for the intended purpose and has a pretty good edge inside the curve. For those wondering, the ball side helps to pull out the tread or stretch it out without cutting the stitch thread, you would cut use the sharp side to make the cuts between 4 or 5 seems.
