Pairing the Preferred/Reserve with the Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited is the best way to maximize rewards points, and booking travel through the Chase portal is a good way to redeem them if you aren't transferring to an airline mileage program (really only beneficial if you are always flying the same airline).
You don't need to transfer points to other programs in advance. When you want to book a flight or hotel and booking with points is cheaper than cash, transfer the points and book immediately. It only takes a few minutes for the points to transfer.
In some cases I've found that booking with points directly(via points transfer) is far cheaper than booking through the chase portal using points.
Can anyone who really likes this card comment on the value you find in paying to have it. I would think if you're a heavy traveler you'd just go with the $550 version that has so many more perks.
Amex as a comparison provide Centurion lounges and Sky Club which are typically both better than PP lounges. Due to this the overlap with CSR makes is moot and the CSP provides much better value.
Redeeming UR via the Chase portal is not the best point spend. Hyatt and international travel redemption is typically where the best values are. Since Chase has no AF UR cards, unlike Amex, it's a no brainer to bank UR points for high value redemptions.
Chase cards such as the Freedom which provides secondary car rental insurance actually provide as primary when renting internationally.
Just to also add. This is the cheapest CC with primary car rental insurance and one of the strongest and most popular low mid tier card since it's AF is only $95.
I can get this insurance with my Amex Plat but it costs $20 per rental so 5 rentals with the CSP and I'm already ahead.
Chase Ink Business Unlimited is the only free card I know of that offers primary car rental insurance. Also comes with $10k purchase protection that's usually only on premium cards. They currently have the 90k SUB after $6k spend in 3 months offer. Too good to pass up. You don't need an actual business, just use your SSN to sign up
I think this card is good for me. Annual $50 Chase Travel credit is easy to use.
You also get DashPass through this card, plus the free monthly $10 grocery/ retail credit ($120 annually), it is well worth the $95 annual fee.
Same boat.
The free dash pass + hotel credit pretty much pays for the card. Also you're not obligated to purchase anything through chase travel, the best way to spend the points is by transferring them
if the application process is any indication, then you can make up anything and they'll approve.

Also I'm interested in the additional 10000 points. How do you ask for this in branch? Hi- I heard that in branch the promotion for this card is different can you elaborate?
Thanks in advance.
Besides i think this card is just ok. Forced to do all travel via their higher priced portal is a downside and points earn are lower than with specific hotel cards..sure you have more flexibility but thats it
I don't consider myself a heavy traveler. I'll do two trips a year. The CSR doesn't seem worth it for me based on the annual fee alone. The only enticing perk I would consider it for is the airport lounge😂 but like I said Im not a heavy traveler.
1. The introductory points for this deal are so so - under 70k is hard to find an international flight. Chase should consider making the offer 100k to make some sense and be more competitive to other cards. At the moment American Airlines has a 75k intro for their platinum card, Southwest has 85k intro and likely United will have something. Usually all of them also provide additional perks like check-in luggage.
2. The card is a primary insurer for car rentals WITHIN US. Outside US it is a secondary insurer, i.e. your main insurer needs to kick in, then the card if any liability balance is left. The Reserve is primary insurer everywhere, they don't notify your personal insurer and your premium potentially will not be affected. Besides, the coverages are larger.
3. This card pretty much is obsoleted by Costco Citi Visa, which also provides same level of insurance and perks, AND a cashback
This offer requiring $6k spend is not worth it - you can get one of the more premium CapitolOne Travel X cards for example and be more creative for using the points for flights PLUS getting access to the lounges. Or, you can get TWO airline promo cards and have double the flight opportunities for the points. United now allows ticketing with a combo points+money payment for example, same as Chase ultimate points.
I would consider it my primary card if I don't have a Sapphire and the intro points are ~80k or above for $3k spending. To be able to get at least one international roundtrip. OR, I could consider it opening for the promo to add them to my primary card. This card gives you extra 25% points when booking through Chase Travel, vs. the Reserve gives extra 50%..
Spending $6k is not worth it.
I guess we'll find out who is successful at getting the 10k bonus correctly in their account, but don't be surprised if it doesn't work out.

Anyone having good experience with trip cancelation? I have bad experience, same as most insurances, they want a ton of information, and dont wanna pay. Some reasons ie. for flight cancellations are not covered, and then u automatically lose claims for hotel food etc. plus its such a pain and timeeffort.. seriously i think many people just give up
