Best deal I've seen on this (I got one when it was $1499). Highly recommend. Budget ~$500 for a good throne (Roc-n-soc is my preference), pedal, hi-hat stand, sticks, and over-ear headphones and you're ready to rock for well under $2k.

Been wanting to get one of these kits but have no idea what's good or not. All I know is I'm not good so… Some of these get insanely expensive. I was at a friend's house once and he has one- it sounded really good for what I expected to sound like some 80's synth pad. I will say this— there was a homeless guy on the corner in my city that could really get after it on a couple of 5-gallon buckets.I asked him if he could play Meshuggah - Bleed but he said not really cause I don't have any bass drums or pedals.I said listen man; if you can't do it just be straight with me, not many people can play it. I didn't see him anymore after that. I think he felt ashamed he hadn't practiced enough or maybe he died. Ever since then I wanted a drum set so I could force myself to learn it as some kind of penance paid for that dark moment from my past.
If you're just getting started check out the Alesis mesh head, comes with similar setup minus one extra crash but it's expandable. It's usually on sale here for 3-400$! I run it through garage band on an old iPad and it outputs real kits and sounds pretty amazing. Might be a better option to make sure you'll stick with it, I always had plans to upgrade but enjoy my set up so much I've had it for 5 years now

Been playing on Roland drums for 10+ years and they just keep getting better. Currently have a Frankenstein setup with a old MD-9 rack (from a TD-9 set) with a TD-27 digital upgrade kit (TD-27 + digital snare and digital ride) and 4 VAD toms + VAD kick which took some creativity to fit the rack. Looks and plays great. Added the "Reality" drum kit from https://www.vexpressionsltd.com/ for more variety also.

$1300 for this set is good and the mesh pads are night and day to rubber/plastic pads. The TD-17 is a decent module even without midi in (does have it out) plus having bluetooth is nice to play music off your phone to play along with. With that said I still have a old school Sansa Clip mp3 player that I have plugged into mine with 100+ songs I practice to since the battery still lasts like 20 hours on it along with bluetooth to my phone.

Although if you are a true beginner you might want to go with a cheaper set in case you end up not sticking with it since the resale value on used kits isn't super great.

Yep, it's gone. Was pretty close to pulling the trigger on it, too. Might something better turn up around Black Friday?

Definitely keep an eye out, these were on sale last year around black friday. If you see it within $100 of this price again I'd pull the trigger, it's a steal at anywhere around this price.

The Adorama deals typically run 1 to 2 days and then they are gone. But they have been popping up fairly regularly over the las 6 months.
