Because it still works as well as it did when it just came out It may not have the latest bells and whistles but for $17 you get a competent streaming device.

The Roku streaming stick says otherwise. That POS that I have keeps disconnecting from wi-fi. Still can't figure out what the problem is.

I bought fire stick devices, all of them are dreadfully slow, switched to Roku and never looked back, Amazon should stick to selling China items instead of making streaming devices….getting an extra one at this price

I am thinking about gettiung the $17 one to replace my annoyingly falling apart roku 3 because currently I am using my 1080p oled and 1080p elite plasma so I figured I may get a cheap one just to last me until i am happy with a 4k tv and by that point some newer 4k roku will be out.

Surely this is better than the roku 3 at least.

Go to: Settings Network About: Will give:
Network name & signal strength, etc.
You can also check & set up connections.

I had that issue when I moved slow & dropping frequently. Changed mine from 5ghz to 2.4ghz & had better connection, no drops. Assuming your router has both bands & different network names, so you can tell the difference. Your phone network wifi settings will also tell you which name goes to which band.

already checked there. doesn't have ghz. Have chatted with Roku support tech so many times
and they were useless. Just going to get a regular Roku device. No more sticks. I think this one was defective. It also keeps freezing and batteries drain so fast have to constantly keep changing it. Been going on since from last year. Never had any problems with the other roku device.

Ghz is what your router band is using. Your router has a network or SSID name. The same name is what you click on, to connect to the Internet. For 5ghz & 2.4 ghz each one should have its own name. This is not something support can help you with. When you connect to the internet, you connect to one of these names you set up. But you have to figure that out which is which for 5 or 2.4ghz. On windows pc when you connect you should see properties click on or right-click on your network name, click on 'properties' scroll down to bottom, there you will find what ghz is connected to your pc & now you match ghz with the name.
Mobile phone will also tell you in its wifi settings network name & ghz. I wouldn't like batteries draining, could be trying to search for what it can't find. Hope the new one works better. My laptop is connected to 5ghz network. Same as the Roku stick (got it last Dec). Only one band. And there is nowhere to change it to 2.4ghz. In roku settings there is no option. It only tells you wi-fi info,. Usually get an error 016 or error 022 wireless receiver not detected on roku screen. With it freezing and the remote not responding.

The router is on the same floor as the stick, which is about 30 feet away. Not a big palce. Other electronics like game consoles and laptop don't have any connection problems. Even the old roku device never had any problems. Might just try a different brand streaming device. Thanks for the help anyways.
