The iPad 9th gen might get 2-3 more updates (iOS 19-21), but expect new features to be excluded. We are already seeing this in the way Apple Intelligence is excluded for all iPads w/o an M1 or better processor. Updates for models with "A" processors will be cosmetic + bug fixes. If one wants to "future proof" a bit more wait until Black Friday and pick up an iPad 10 for $275 or less.
