Agree with Sparkles. Hold for the 600S/600S-P models if possible. They are highly rated / excellent. Just waiting for a good deal on the filters!

What is a good price? The gray color is going for $300. Thanks.

What's the reasoning behind this? Looking to at smaller ones in bedrooms seems like the 600 would be an overkill?

Is the smart feature really worth it? The 300P is only $80 so for purification performance should be a better deal?

Stay away from Levoit. They have some of the worst customer service ever. First they ended up lying about their filters being HEPA / H13 rated. Then when they got called out they scrubbed their whole website any of mention of HEPA Filters. Then when I requested returning my purifiers due to false advertising I had to get a lawyer involved before they would take them back and refund my money.

I wonder if the filter contractor that they used was the one at fault or if they knew...

Their products seem to be highly rated/reviewed.

Not sure, I will say I did like their purifiers (especially the Vital series) and their App was great, (though they recently updated it to add a forced arbitration clause to use it). I just don't appreciate companies giving wrong information about the effectiveness of their products.

I've had one since 2019 that kicked the bucket in the Helene's power outages.

Tempted to buy another one, but I saw a YouTube video that showed how to replace the capacitors recently.

Maybe I should buy this one in case I can't repair the old one.

I agree with you on the thought. If they're willing to lie about the HEPA, what else are they lying about...

i have a house full of these...and just learned now that they arent hepa filters? yikes.

anyway - they do catch stuff in their filters so i can't complain. would be too expensive at this point to buy certified ones....Their App is real good though and love that it just works compared to others that have no wifi ability in the same price range

I've done it twice. Now one popular brand can't recall the name makes one. I had to scrap it because it's too slow and useless on low speed and too noisy on mid or high speed. With an electrostatic or regular foam pre filter it's doable but i had to use adhesive foam pieces i collected from old AC units to fill gaps. It doesn't look good. Recently someone gave me newer models Winixes. I order cheaper filters from amazon. Never doing box fan again.

It's like using a spoon to dig versus a shovel....they will both get you to the same place eventually. 🤣😀

The $98 LV-H131S-RXW with extra filter, with each filter rated at 6-8 month per manual PDF. Ignoring all the marketing mumbo jumbo and focusing on the data submitted to the EPA, it has a recommended room size of 132 sq ft (which is based on its clean air delivery rate or CADR, more specifically, 1.55 x average dust/smoke/pollen CADR)

The $80 Levoit Core 300 is rated for 175 or 217 sq ft (there are two EPA entries for this model for some reason).

Neither units is particularly energy efficicent, delivering around 3.x CADR per watt, unless Levoit updated the design.

For comparison, Costco's recently discontinued Winix C545 (with extra filter, each rated for 1 year) was $100 on sale and $130 regular. It is rated for 360 sq ft, or double that of the Core 300 or almost triple that of the LV-H131S. CADR/W is around 4.6

Costco replaced the C545 with the cylindrical C610 [costco.com] ($100 on sale now until Oct 20, $130 regular) that is even better: rated for 386 sq ft and significantly more efficient that the C545 at 6.4 (and almost 100% more efficient than the Levoits).

The Levoit H131 does have activated carbon granules which are more effective than carbon fiber/foam at absorbing odor (the old C545 uses fiber, I'm not sure about the C610). Also the Levoit has dust particle PM detector whereas Winix uses VOC (odor) detector.

For a bigger unit that is even more efficient, the BlueAir Pure 221i MAX for $190 (w/10% back if paid by Prime Visa card) is a no-brainer at 636* (corrected from 684) sq ft and 9.5* CADR/W (all recent Blueair units have very high efficiency, well above the popular Winix and Coway).
