The 11 pc at Amazon expired.

This set has fixed handles, while the Amazon one has removeable handles.

Bought a 13-pc at Walmart recently for $60+tax, best set I've owned in my lifetime. Looks great, cooks great, cleaning inside and the bottom easy-pizy.

I had to return my first set because the non stick was peeling. They scratch fairly easily, so use proper utensils. The non stick works great in my second set so far after about 6 months. Heats up fast and even.

Doesn't seem like a good deal. I got a 17 piece set for $69 from Walmart not too long ago.

If space is a constraint I would suggest going with the Amazon one for 53.xx$. I could still 10% coupon code for the Amazon set and it comes with removable handles which are easier for storage

3 things you will ever need. Why would you buy this trash?

- 1 cast iron skillet with lid
-1 cast iron flat skillet
- 1 cast iron dutch oven.

you will spend less than 100 and use it forever and not cook chemicals.

I purchased the set with the removable handles and immediately returned them. When put in the dishwasher the bottom will oxide and leave black residue on anything it touches. The listing touts a stainless steel base, but the bottom acted like aluminum.

I have never used cast iron and have never ever wanted to. The maintenance alone makes me avoid it, not to mention the weight and difficulty in real cleaning. No, scrubbing it with salt or a paper towel is not real cleaning. A friend did graduate work examining restaurant kitchens. She found cast iron to be full of food residue from prior cooking -- including flavors, odors and most alarmingly, allergens. For example, I tell patients allergic to peanuts to never eat food cooked in a cast iron pan that's used peanut oil. In contrast, there's no risk from eating from a similar non-stick or stainless steel pan because those are scrubbed with soap and water.

She also found dust and even insect parts on the cast iron pans because the oily residue (from cooking and seasoning) is sticky.

You can prove how dirty your "clean" cast iron with two easy tests. First, rub a paper bag or paper towel on the "cleaned" pan's surface. I bet you'll see grease, food particles and carbonization. Pretty disgusting. Second, put the "clean" pan inside a sealed plastic bag and put in a warm area, e.g. the top of the fridge. Open the bag in week. I bet you'll smell the odor of rotten food. Garlic and ginger smells will be especially strong.

The bottom line is that you can't truly clean cast iron cookware. And frankly, there are no common cooking techniques that require or benefit from cast iron. Even searing can be better done with a $7 food torch since it can reach uneven surfaces like a whole chicken.

Oh? 70 years of international longitudinal and epidemiological studies have not found any problems. Hence, it's not banned in any country. Can you provide one epidemiological study showing a increase in morbidity or mortality in those using PTFE? It is biologically inert which is why it's used in labware and even body implants.

It's a bit ironic that cast iron fans always bash PTFE as unhealthy. They tout cast iron for withstanding high heat whereas PTFE will break down around 500°F. But here's the deal: you should never cook meats at that temperature because high heat creates carcinogens. Charring meats create heterocyclic aromatic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Both damage DNA, which increases the risk of cancer.

https://www.columbiadoctors.org/n...f%20cancer.

If you think you're safe by avoiding meat, think again. If you cook with oil, you'll have to worry about their smoking points. Once an oil reaches its smoking point, over 50 toxins are created, including acrylamides, toxic aldehydes, hydroxylinoleate, free radicals, and trans fats. Many have been implicated in cancer. Even the fumes may cause lung cancer.

The smoking point of most refined cooking oils is around 450°F. Unrefined oils have an even lower smoking point. This is well below the temperature when PTFE breaks down. In summary, if you care about health, you should never cook at temperatures above 400°F anyway. In other words, the claimed advantage of cast iron cookware is obliterated. No advantages and plenty of disadvantages, so it's a no brainer to stick with my PTFE non-stick cookware.

If space is an issue, get the one with removable handles. See this deal:

https://slickdeals.net/f/17806506-prime-11-piece-carote-pots-and-pans-kitchen-set-cream-white-ebony-black-from-53-90-free-shipping

I love everything about this set. The removable handle makes storage a breeze. Not only in the cabinet but also in the fridge, where the cookware can be used as storage containers. The cookware literally goes from the fridge to the stove to the table for serving. No need to use separate cookware and serving dishes. You can even eat directly off them.
