Legion is 1600p and has 140w 4070 while Msi is 1440p and 105w 4070. The legion 4070 is bit more powerful. I also think msi laptops are hit or miss
I don't think this Ryzen can compensate much because this model is iGPU-less, which means the 4070 will run 100% of the time, sucking your battery even harder.
Looks like a legit deal to me, especially with the 4070, I really like these Lenovo laptops. It seems to be one of the cheapest 4070 laptop deals NIB I've seen recently.

I would get the Lenovo - cheaper and higher resolution screen. Ram is cheap and easy to upgrade if one cares.

Counterargument is i7 is 25 percent or more faster per core. Hmmm…. I worry about cooling more with the i7…

Just my experience, but I've had better luck with Omen than Legion laptops. Lenovo particularly seems to have issues with wireless reception. I'm not sure if they've made changes in the last 18 months or so, but particularly their ryzen powered laptops came with non-intel wireless cards that were junk. I tried everything on mine driver wise and even went as far as replacing the wireless card with an intel one, still terrible wifi throughput, ended up having to use a usb solution. Google this and you'll see it not an uncommon problem.

For the people talking about the screen, at this this size 1080p will still look good, you don't need 1600p, and that would infact be a detriment to gpu usage IF you're running on battery power. These things the battery life is abysmal for gaming already. If you don't have a monitor you're going to use then sure the screen may matter just from the increased real estate on non-gaming tasks, but if you plan on using it unplugged the omen battery life will probably be significantly better.

The difference between this one and the $1200 one direct from lenovo is 7435HS vs 7735HS which seem to have very similar stats except this one from Microcenter, the 7435HS, does not have integrated graphics. I assume this means that the battery life may not be as good but I am not sure if iGPU is worth $300 difference. Anyone have opinions? Also how is Microcenter with extended warranty vs lenovo extended warranty? I have had too much issues with asus customer support so I hope this is better

No it's not worth the extra $300 Yolo I've never had to use a warranty on a laptop, ever. My first laptop being a 133mhz POS

I also posted the HP omen 4070 but I think I would rather get the Lenovo just because this one has 1600p vs 1080p. I had bad experience with Intel laptops getting hot. Also Lenovo customer service is great! The hp omen cpu is about 2x faster.
The omen has 32gb and close to me were an openbox for 841

Does it support USB-C charging? I get that these gaming laptops can't use high power while on a USB-C charger, but it seems like it should be fine for non gaming use, yet seems very hit or miss for models to support both options.
It supports 100watt USB-PD charging, or 140watt charging using the Lenovo USB charger, and unlike most other brands it will bypass the battery even on USB power, once it's fully charged, reducing battery wear.

It does require a 95watt USB charger to charge:

• 20 V, 4.75 A
• 20 V, 5 A
• 20 V, 6.75 A
• 20 V, 7 A

I would beware of ASUS and open box right now. I have personally have had issues with asus tech/customer support when my new g15 died, when I sent it back they wanted more than what I paid for it to repair. On another thread here someone mentioned they got an asus g14 open box from BB and it didn't work and they returned it but then BB just put it back up for open box sale. YMMV though but you would want to use it in store to make sure its good. I just feel there is a red flag when BB has enough of one specific model open box to have a site wide sale on them.

FYI. I was able to get Best Buy to price match Microcenter for this laptop (i.e. $899.99): https://www.bestbuy.com/site/leno...Id=6575388
Seems like a great deal for a gaming laptop...

if you got BB to price match you got away with a good one! the one you linked is the 7735HS which has an integrated GPU. This one here from microcenter is a 7435HS which will be worse on battery. I tried to get lenovo to price match and they only said that they could price match things from the lenovo website

This is the reason you don't by this. Unless you plan on never using this laptop without power connected

Agreed, I got an MSI with a 3070 and the low wattage, it couldn't even play cyperpunk, lots of stuttering right as I playing it a bit, but my legion, this baby with a 3070 and higher wattage. Played it on Ultra, the scenes on my 4k tv at 60hz were so smooth I thought I was slicing butter with my eyes. Might be something else in the PC configurations of course, but that computer is still chugging battery power like a champ but pushing out good framerates.
