Just to note, this is the 2022 version and doesn't have the improved burn-in prevention algorithm like the 2024 version does. The new version is $720.
250nits on an OLED is *plenty* bright due to the true blacks and the way we perceive brightness. Since individual pixels can be turned on/off, OLEDs have near infinite contrast ratio--the difference in brightness between a black pixel and a white pixel. Traditional LCDs have a backlight, which causes blacks to glow. Raising the floor so to speak requires increasing the brightness to have the same visual impact of contrast. That's why HDR LCDs have peak brightness levels in the 2000+ nits range--it's required to achieve a similar level of contrast experienced with an OLED display.

Side by side the 400nit LCD will appear brighter than the 250nit OLED, but it'll also be significantly more washed out because the Dell has a 3000:1 contrast ratio, whereas the OLED is "infinite" (I put it on quotations because in reality the screen coating reflects some ambient light). The only time you'll miss that extra brightness on an OLED is if you're fighting against ambient light.

The bottom line is comparing brightness levels between OLEDs and LCDs is misleading. Old school CRTs and plasma displays only had about 100nits full screen brightness. You don't need your display to blast your retinas with light unless you're in a bright viewing environment or you're trying to offset the display's poor representation of blacks.
Using it for 2 years for work and play, no burn in. A lot of static images

New all time low, last I saw was $600. Question now is will it get lower around BF?

Can you do free returns at Best Buy if you don't like it? Hoping the text fringe isn't noticeable
