It's a standard "seat" license. Meaning regardless of version, you're allowed 2 seats at once using it. Those seats could be using it on mac or windows. The software downloads a key when you activate it for your instance. If you replace your laptop/desktop, you unregistered that seat and register the new computer as the allowed computer.

Great deal. If you don't like the speed editor hardware thing, they sell on ebay for $150 or so. So you can sell and make money.

One thing I forgot to mention about the hardware. You don't have to connect via USB. You can also use Bluetooth. This is huge for me since I already have a keyboard, Rodecaster Duo, and Elgato Stream Deck on my desktop. I just don't have enough physical space to keep something like this on my tabletop, so it's nice to just be able to swap this in and out when I need to do hardcore editing sessions.

It's for WIndows, Mac, or Linux. The license number comes on a card in the box, you download the appropriate version of Resolve Studio from the BM website and just enter the license number. I believe you also get two "seats" (two instances of the program, say one on your laptop and one on desketop) with the license.

I wish they were more clear whether or not it includes software licenses for both or just one platform.

Similar? Kinda. Equivalent? No. Resolve's integration with other hardware is limited, and the jog wheel on this is much better than any generic pad I've seen. Nicely weighted with the right resistance, build quality is great. Makes a big difference when you spend hours and hours scrubbing through footage.

I agree that the hardware alone probably isn't worth $350, but anyone who is using Resolve enough to warrant looking at a control panel is most likely wanting the full Studio license anyways, or vice versa, so I don't see the issue. That's what my situation was like, I did get the Speed Editor when it first came out and was $300 so it was literally a no-brainer, but I still would have paid $350 or $400.

For those who are happy with the free version of Resolve and want a control panel, you can pick up Speed Editors on eBay for $150-200, which I think is a fair price for the hardware.
