Personally I just clean the inside of the windshield like 3-4 times, wash my hands to remove oils/dirt, then take a dry paper towel that I haven't touched with my dirty hands and basically do a hand polish, as it will pick up any residual smears and use a light source to look for anything remaining. This could likely reduce effort for the last step I do.

I ask because our cars all tend to get a film of something (probably plastic plasticizer) on them that is a pain in the ass to get rid of without streaks. Even my 2 week old brand new car has this. If there were a real solution for this issue I wouldn't mind paying more for a product that actually fixed it.
