I bought this exact model in 2019 and it's still ticking! For the price range.. I'd totally go for it. It's really nice to have the wifi option since you can display the live feed and review directly on your phone. Be sure to set up the wifi with Rove's phone app so it's ready when you need it. Also uncheck the "forget app" setting if you don't use the app often. Here's a helpful thread https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams..._any_good/

Solid dashcam. The only knock on it is these suction cups they use to attach it to the windshield. In the summer heat, I can't tell you how many times I've returned to my parked car to see the cord hanging because the suction cup couldn't hold up to the heat.

You're thinking of Roav that's part of Anker. I'm assuming Rove is just a generic hoping like you people think that they are Roav.

Anyone has experience with these? Spec looks good and if I remember correctly Rove is somehow related to Anker?

Something I found was that the sony sensor used in this unit is not true 4k resolution, and yet the recordings are in 4k. Still the combination of high res and capacitor instead of battery makes this appealing

I researched these on the last deal that popped up and saw this about the 4k not being 'real' 4k. Basically every 5th frame was faked or something. Honestly, I didn't need fulllll 4k and my old dashcam was dying a slow death, so I got the dual version on this cam, front/back. It's been nice so far. The videos seem crisp and clear. Much better than my old 1080p, obviously. It looked like the true 4k models are $200+ from what I saw. Full 4k is going to fill up the sd card faster anyway. I'm no expert, but it seems there isn't much difference between this 4k and true 4k. Fwiw...

I had it for 3 years. And it works great. I just bought the newer version of this one. The new one comes with a back up cam. For $115

Just returned this model.. its just freaking big. There is no need for a screen on a dash cam. They make it big and take up too much space. I couldnt hide it behind my mirror on either of my cars.

I used to think that. Until I got in an accident with my "no screen" dash cam and discovered the camera must have broken at some point as the recording was nothing but squiggly lines.

If you are going to get one with no screen, you will need to connect your phone periodically and check the videos to make sure it's working, which is a pita imo.

My screened one turns on for a minute when I start the car and I can see the image output, then the screen turns off after 1m (but it keeps recording.)

I'm sure it's fine but pay attention to the sensor and processor on dashcams. Many companies will sell you old tech for high prices. Viofo seems to be the most on top of hardware refreshes. Ideally you want a Sony Starvis 2 IMX675 sensor and at least an NT96562 processor in 2024. Check out the Viofo mini 2 for a little more money than this.
