In Bay Area Costco and National (and some random off brand places) are like $0.50 cheaper than any of these brands anyways.

BP is available only in 33 states. https://map.bp.com/en-GB/US/petrol-station/
So more than 50% of the states. COOL!

Higher octane premium is a waste of money if your car doesn't require it. Some cars do require it. Check your owner's manual.

I don't understand why this could be on the front page.

BP, Amoco, or AMPM is never near the cheapest. 10 cents on these higher price stations won't help when they are usually 50 cents+ more expensive than the cheapest.

Between T-mobile, Gas Buddy, and Upside, it is easy to get more than $.10 off a gallon. I prefer getting $1 off per gallon with Kroger.
With every fill up? This is 10 cents very time, not having to spend hundreds at kroger

Oh look, a minor distraction to keep us from focusing on the latest ridiculous 5+ day shipping times we get from the 2 day shipping service we paid for.

Amoco premium (White Gas) "best and cleanest gas in the market" always has been even though they ruin it with added ethanol.

Your sweet sweet data in return for 10c per gallon? Seems like a super unfair trade.

Sounds like an area-based problem. Where are you? I still get in 1-2 day or less.

There's a single BP about 10 minutes away from me that has very close to or the lowest gas in town. They sit in a tiny sliver of land that is unincorporated so dodge some city taxes, which is why they are cheaper. Other than that, completely agree. BP tents to be the highest around.

Agreed. I only get gas at stations that meet the Top Tier Standards (Mobil, Costco, Marathon, Meijer, Shell, ETC) after reading about the importance of it in Consumer Reports. It rarely costs more. Top Tier gas should not be confused with higher octane "premium" which is a waste of money.

https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/fuel-economy-efficiency/top-tier-gasoline-worth-the-extra-price... [consumerreports.org]
High octane (commonly known as Premium) is for cars with port injected high compression or force inducted like turbo. High octane gasoline are harder to ignite thus it prevents premature detonation or knocking.

It is a REQUIREMENT and a must to some cars that are not programmed to adjust their timings using low octane gas. Some cars are flexible that can utilize high octane gas to advance their timing thus gaining few horsepower.

If your car says 87 octane then use 87 because it is unlikely that it can take advantage of 91 which is a waste of money (read your car manual). If your car says 91 octane preferred then you are likely to safely use 87 but with power penalties.

If your car says 91 octane or above ONLY... then don't use 87 or your car will knock and may lead to bent connecting rods which is a very serious damage.

In short, high octane (Premium) is not about gas quality (or how clean it is), it is about its ignitability property.

10¢ a gallon, that's about 3% if gas is $3 a gallon. It's an illusion. Why not at least 5% on gas which would be around 15¢ a gallon. What a joke.
