Does total wireless allow number change? If I order a line, port in another number if I like the service, is it allowed?

Don't do it at a physical location as they will charge you full price for the first month and also other store fees on top of it.

You can buy a $1 simcard at a local retailer (Dollar general, family dollar, etc) or online at amazon, bestbuy, or target.

You can change your number to another randomly assigned one if need be, but porting in another number after you've activated with a new number will be nearly impossible to do without it affecting your promo since CS would essentially have to "deactivate" your line and port into a new one. This can void your promo.

Remember I read somewhere in this forum that if we switch phone, promotion is also end since it is tied to IMEI, if it is the case is it better to get physical sim? But again I doubt I will be able to use iphone 13 pro for another 5 years

I've switched phones about 4 times already and the promo is still attached. Just make sure you do the switch yourself online (via activation page) and not involve a CS agent since that's when issues can arise. Only contact them if you run into an issue while attempting it yourself.

What are you basing this on?
"Originally, TracFone service was limited to TracFone-branded phones, which are locked to the TracFone service using an internal SIM card. Other GSM phones, even those that were unlocked from another carrier, could not accept a TracFone SIM card, because these are bound to a specific handset."
It probably has to do with history. But, even today the system will tell on you like a North Korean and horrible things will happen to your account. Curious? Check out the reddit horror stories about sim swapping and losing your promotional pricing and account.

It's 10mb on the $35 plan and 5mb on the $25 plus taxes are included on visible not total wireless. I have visible love them.
I don't pay any taxes on the BYEBYE deal nor the 50% off promo plans. The only thing visible has is the 10mbps vs 5mbps Total hotspot. But, I like the free Disney+ better. You can even pay $4 more and get Hulu ad free. Plus, it's $5 cheaper than visible+. For now.

I should have taken others advice that Total is nothing but a dumpster fire. I tried to port one T-Mobile number to Total and it is not happening. I obtained the pin from T-Mobile and went through the porting process with Total signup process providing the porting pin number. After I pay and the bill hits my credit card account I receive a text from Total that I provided a wrong porting pin number.and to enter Y to respond. After entering Y I get a text stating the service is temporarily unavailable, please try again latter. Every five minutes for the last two hours i have been getting the same text that the wrong pin has been provided.

I called customer service and was told that they are not allowed to contact the porting group and all will be fine tomorrow. Such BS from Total rep who I could barely understand. Treat the customer like a fool to shove the problem down the line..

At the end of the day I am out the $30 to Total and risk getting my phone number at T-Mobile rendered inactive if I do not pay for the next month service on time. I will have to charge the $30 back to Total as they do not refund funds for lines they never activate.

Yes, but then it was taken away again yesterday. Haven't seen one comment of anyone confirming they actually honored the promo. Seems everyone on the T-Mobile promo lost their promotional pricing yesterday.
They are thieves

My experience switching 5 lines from t-mobile went without a hitch. I had them all transferred in a matter of 5 minutes each. Your issue has solutions, it's just whether or not you're willing to go through through the steps or not.

So the 4 times you did this you were able to keep your number or port new ones?

Kept my number. I was only interested in switching devices with the same number not change or port in new ones.

Sorry, still trying to figure out how you're able to do this. 🤔 Can you provide the details?

select "keep your own phone" then "keep your own number" and select the number you want to assign the new phone to. They will send a text to the number with a verification code, then after you put it in, it should ask for the simcard / imei number and proceed to finalize the process.
