Using my BofA unlimited cash card and platinum rewards, that's 4.625% cash back and only a 1.82% payment fee.
That's about $70. Plus I still have 0% promo interest rate until October, since it's a new card.
You won't get a bonus on the 2%, but you will still get your bonus on the card as usual.
If you have customized cash platinum rewards and haven't used your $2500 spend limit for the quarter on your chosen category, that can be 7.25% cash back!
3% - custom category base reward
2.25% - platinum rewards bonus
2% - rewards day bonus
Unfortunately, I already used my $2500 spend for the quarter, so the unlimited cash is a better choice for me.

Do you really need to ask on a thread where people is talk 5-7% cash back credit cards like it's normal?
I've only been with BofA for about half a year, but they've been pretty good to me.
- Local support when needed. I've talked to them in person on three occasions, and it's always been helpful.
- $900 in various sign-up bonuses. I like money.
- With platinum rewards and their two cashback credit cards, I get 2.625%cb on anything, and 5.25%cb on specialized purchases. Again, I like money.
- Merrill has my IRA for the preferred rewards.
I planned to just churn - grabbing the bonuses and running, but decided to stay because of the local, live service and the great cb credit cards. Now have an IRA with Merrill, two checking accounts, and two credit cards with them.
So, I can say Costco e giftcards work.
But that does not mean all gift card orders from all vendors will get that. It may matter how it's processed. BofA/Visa only gets limited information from the vendor. Costco probably does not report it to BofA as a gift card purchase, so they can't tell the difference, and you get cash back.
Probably be OK at Lowe's too if you have home improvement as your category. Lowe's is unlikely to distinguish between a gift card and an appliance, especially if it is a mixed purchase including non-giftcard items.
My guess is you try it from giftcardgranny, you'll probably be out of luck.

But BoA doesn't have a HYSA. Whatever Merrill has as an alternative is questionable.
No one bank is going to be competitive with every financial product. Not even mega-banks like BofA and Chase.
But, I don't have all my financial products with BofA. When I need a product they suck at, I buy it from someone else.
They do indeed suck at HYSAs, CDs, interest-bearing checking, and 529s. I use other vendors for those products. I use BofA where they have competitive products.

They absolutely suck as CDs. Mine just matured and I immediately took my money back without extending it further. This was the longest 7 month wait. Never again.
I agree! 1st or 2nd year they did this was no cap!

I posted this as PSA, as I found it in one of my emails and it was not announced anywhere else. I don't work for SD or BofA. I started using BofA in April this year as a customer. Feel free to ignore the post. Lastly, I don't know how SD gets benefited from BofA. Would like to know as well.
Edit to add: found in footnotes that purchases made till 11:59PM Eastern Time. So, folks on West Coast should keep this in mind.
Yeah, they suck at all those stuff. The only usecase I found was becoming Platinum Honors Rewards member includes Self Managed brokerage account(>$100k) to be eligible. Then, cashback credit cards 2.65% and 5.25%for dedicated categories
