Given that this adapter lacks support for the 20V Power Delivery mode I don't think I'd generally recommend it for a MacBook or any other laptop. I do believe the MacBook can use the 15V Power Delivery mode, so it is indeed possible that a given MacBook could charge at up to the maximum possible rate of this RocketFish adapter, but for a laptop I'd primarily recommend a charger with support for the 20V Power Delivery mode.

Instead, this charger supports the 5V, 9V and 15V modes. This adapter lacks the optional 12V mode, but the 15V mode can be useful for those devices which can use it (typically tablets and, no surprise, the Switch). No support for Programmable Power Supply (PPS) so no Super Fast Charging support.

5V at up to 3A
9V at up to 3A
15V at up to 2.6A

Good luck!

I bought this one for my Thinkpad T490 laptop. Works great. And it is portable (foldable plug). I carry it in my laptop sleeve with no issues.

For $10.99

Good option for trickle charging an M1 MacBook or newer if you aren't using it. Lower charging rate, better battery longevity.

Reminder to use AlDente to hold charge. Hopefully the next big step will be laptops adding wattage controls to throttle charging.

I have MacBook units with over 500 charge cycles still on track to keep 80% capacity at 1,000... thanks to AlDente and reduced wattage charging.

Anyone seeking a slow laptop charging option could consider a 30W charger with support for a 20V Power Delivery profile. Note that a 30W charger will, for many laptops, recharge a laptop from empty to 100% easily in an overnight session (4-6 hours).

Plenty of laptop models provide such controls, just not always using accessible and intuitive controls for non-technical users. Dell has had BIOS features incorporating power management settings to preserve battery longevity by limiting total charge, setting charging cycles rules, etc. for the better part of ten years (personally I've got a seven year old model with a spate of such features).

Good luck!

Just will caution 30W will sometimes not invoke charging, and only hold charge on a lot of Intel laptops. Especially 2016-2020 Intel machines with USB-C PD.

39W-45W seems to be some secret SMC/PMU threshold that they start to trickle. But at $10, it's a low gamble.

I do agree BIOS makers should push back on such stuff, I wish I had better health and could focus more on that at my day job. If it were up to me, there would be an Expert Mode in UEFI with every last option de-hidden (that won't harm the hardware, anyway).

I just used this charger on a Lenovo laptop that came with a 65w charger, it works even though it will give you a warning about slow charging. I did about 4-5 hours of work on the laptop and it was able to keep the battery at 99% charged. Also when I use it to charge my phone, my phone shows it's fast charging. For $10 this is pretty good.

Note that it is possible to disable the slow charging warning in WIndows. Some systems may also have a setting in the BIOS which can give similar warnings at power on (which can also be disabled).

I have three (3) different Chromebooks that came with 45W and 65W chargers, but all of which typically draw no more than around 22-30W when in use and charging.

Good luck!
