I feel stupid, not sure how to do this deal. I'm not a big cell user other than using it for the web. I have AT&T prepaid and could definitely use this phone to replace my older Motorola but I'm not sure how to get this deal.

Kinda. You also have port in a number and it looks like Total is selective about that source of that number.
I got the phone just now from best buy store. Created new AT&T account. Started chat to cancel service. Got this response: "As I checked and see that since the wireless account is not authenticated and I'm not getting an option to authenticate the account so not to worry I will help you with our dedicated team number for they will check and help you with this for you. Please allow contact our dedicated team 800.331.0500 they are available on M - F, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Ct Sa - Su, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. CT they will check and help you with that.".

EDIT-1: Service was easily cancelled by calling them. Now need to wait for a month to see what comes in bill.
EDIT-2: Finally got the bill. It came with $35 activation charge. I was able to waive it off just by disputing charge link without any human intervention. Finally paid $6 including taxes for AT&T bill for 2-3 days service.

They're knocking $100 off the price if you activate a new line of service. I'd imagine they must have an activation fee and early termination fee that claws back that $100.
