And I remember people dumping their 2080 for like 300 bucks before 3080 released. Good times

$1500 here for an EVGA 3080ti. I got good use out of it over the last 2 years, but RIP wallet.
I got one from ebay, one of EVGA's RMA returns, so brand new in an RMA box for $700 and converted it to a hybrid cooler with their kit. Still running strong. I feel for you bro.... couldn't imagine dropping that in this economy now. I'm riding this guy out until it dies or EVGA becomes a collectors item lol. Max settings on everything at 1440p undervolted paired with a 5800X3D. And like another poster said no AAA's are really that good anymore. I just play rogue-likes and Baldur's Gate 3.Companies seem to be giving out great games like candy now.

What game do you guys play these days? I bought last year a computer with RTX 3070 ti for Diablo, but the game was so bad and I now just use the computer for web browsing… Video cards are getting expensive and there's no game to play..
These days I play open world games such as 7 Days to Die. Soon I'll be buying DayZ. Multiplayer games such as Call of Duty are trash. My RTX 3080 10GB should hold me over until the 6080/6090 for 4K gaming GTA6.

I was a PC gamer for a long time, but these prices make PS5 look very attractive. I guess it's a phase people burn money on and you move on eventually. Companies extract what they can, while they can, then the customer is gone.

I'm still rocking my RX 5700 (non-XT) but I need to find an upgrade. I bought one of the sub-$200 5700X3D's which was a noticeable difference but the GPU is definitely the bottleneck now. I'm so conflicted, I game at 1440 and want to upgrade but with new gen coming out I feel like I need to play on medium settings a bit longer. It's still hard to do when this or a 7900 GRE can be had at this price though, decisions...
I think there's a good chance the RDNA 4 GPUs coming in Q1 will be very competitive in terms of price to performance. AMD is reverting back to the strategy they employed with RDNA 1, where they focused on the midrange (5700XT was the flagship). I'm anticipating an 8700XT 12GB that competes with the 4070 Super for $400 and an 8800XT 16GB for $500. Maybe they go as high as $600, but the top tier RDNA 4 GPU is rumored to be about as fast as a 7900XT with significantly faster ray tracing.

the reason this zotac 4070s card is consistently the cheapest is because it has the 2nd worst cooling performance of all compact 2-fan models (behind the galax one)

I could have sold my 1070 for $300 during COVID but didn't. 😢
I sold a zotac 1080 for $390 on eBay during COVID. POS was barely worth $200 before that 😁

If you can afford the next gen and you've already waited this long then you deserve the latest (5th gen) for holding out this long.

Of note, regardless of what you think about the republican candidate's proposed tariffs, it's probably a good idea to start looking into electronics now to buy as soon as you can in the event he wins. He's suggesting a hike on the already-in-place China tariffs as well as an additional tariff on other countries. This will result in drastically more expensive GPUs (and other tech) either forever, until the tariffs are allowed to expire, or until manufacturing moves to the US.

There's already a 25% duty on GPUs alone, set to expire May next year, but some of the proposed tariffs (a proposed 60% tariff on all imports from China, or up to 20% on goods manufactured elsewhere in the world) would apply on top of that already-existing tariff.
So if no new tariffs are imposed by May 2025, does that mean GPUs SHOULD cost 25% less? Whether nvidia and amd will lower prices is a different story.

No, they're just going to pocket most of the savings. Depending on who's president next year, tariffs will change, either way I think it'll go up to "protect American jobs".
