This coupon is great for picking up Purdy paint brushes at half off. That's a good deal for a great paint brush. I've been getting a different size brush each year to build up my collection. Specialty brushes for stains and coatings. Angle and flat. Different bristle types. Oil vs. Latex. Fine finish, etc.
Wooster brushes are excellent as well.
May depend on what your local store carries; Wooster are listed online at Ace, need to check a specific store to see what it carries. If you click on a specific item, if it says it's available for pick up at your local store, they likely have it in stock.

As a note: if you have an old QUALITY paint brush that you didn't clean and acrylic paint dried on it, there are some tricks to get the old paint out (not worth putting in the work on a cheap brush). Soaking it in rubbing alcohol can work, but you'll need to keep bending the bristles to work the alcohol further in, and use a wire brush to work the paint off of them, and then eventually, bar soap and the wire brush.
I've also heard ammonia, or murphy oil soap may work but haven't tried those - you can google to see what options are out there. But be careful with any strong chemical that can have negative effects - one reason I haven't tried ammonia is because of this. Better to clean your brush in a timely manner!!

From the coupon (pardon typos):

NOT VALID ON ALL BRANDS OR OFFERS EVEN IF SHOWN IN THIS AD AND NOT VALID ON THE FOLLOWING UNLESS SPECIFIED IN THE OFFER: rentals, in-store services, extended warranties, subscriptions, gift cards, gov't issued items, building materials, pet food, fuel, power tools/equipment, water heaters, Benjamin Moore, Big Green Egg, EGO, Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines, STIHL, Toro, Traeger, Weber, YETI, and such other items individual stores or acehardware.com/exclusions may designate.
Used to be a great coupon as it's been the same promotion for years. With inflation, prices have skyrocketed but there is much less to pick from with respect to the coupon. They need to raise it to $50 max in my view. I just came from the store and it was empty. Between inflation and most people now shopping online, it likely does not get the foot traffic they'd like.

The annual buy a garbage can special!

The Houston Astros approve of this sale.
Back in 17, you could get a can half price with the coupon. At $30 max, not today...

it sounds like it may have come back but it definitely was dead by the 17th (and looks to be dead now, unfortunately, unless you have another link and if so, you should post!).

this is the best ace gc deal i see right now: https://slickdeals.net/f/17943015-ace-hardware-rewards-members-free-10-egfit-card-w-50-ace-gift-card?v=1&src=SiteSearch

Start off by clicking on the banner (for the gift card on the bottom of the page) on acehardware.com. No special link needed.

Full disclosure - I had seen a thread over here that had shown that this deal from acehardware.com had expired. So before I purchased, I reached out to their customer support to ensure that the deal is active and they confirmed. I then went ahead and made the purchase without any problems. Got the gc and the bonus within an hour ....

Ah that's different from the $50 gc for $40 via paypal deal I posted and yes, that does appear to be still live. Mystery solved!

So I see a lot of comments about using the coupon for a 32 Gallon Trash can. However, the Ace branded on is "on sale" (at least in my area) so the coupon does not apply to sale items only regularly priced items. I imagine they put a lot of items on sale, even if it's just a few cents to get out of having to honor the coupon!
This has happened to me before, and I just have them take the 50% off the original price, and that has always worked.

Gasoline is an excellent solvent. Dip in a glass jar of Ragu sauce or equivalent. I also use this strategy to clean bicycle chain.

Gasoline is highly flammable though, too, so I'd recommend extreme care if someone tries that (rubbing alcohol is less so, although still somewhat flammable). The brush needs to soak for a while, then you need to use a wire brush and running water to work through the paint brush and work all the acrylic out, so wear gloves and eye protection while you're doing that. I also don't know what effect gasoline would have on nylon or polyester bristles. .

I personally wouldn't use gasoline. I also wouldn't want the gasoline going into my sewer pipes under the house (that's illegal in a lot of places, aside from other concerns about flammability and potential corrosion). I guess you could try outside with a hose, but I'd start with other less hazardous products.

With a bike chain, you don't leave it in gasoline very long, and you don't need very much - just a 1/4" - enough to cover the chain in a metal pan/can. (the old metal coffee cans worked well, but good luck finding one of those!)

They also added a huge list of excluded brands, and a vague general statement that allows stores to exclude more ... didn't use to be as many.

Keep gasoline 50 feet from any open flame. Pour old gas into the motor oil the next time you change the oil.
