My Son In Law chatted with Discover online via their chat customer service on their website and asked if he could get a lower APR and they gave him for 12 months for 0.00% APR.

This is perfect time for the holiday season and they even gave it to me as well!

He suggusted I told my other family members about it so I thought I would share it here too.

Good luck all and I hope everyone else gets it too! I am sure not all will be able to get it but worth the try!

I might be in the same boat. 800+ scores, always pay in full. So the idea would basically be to let the card balance get to whatever it goes to and instead invest the money that would otherwise use to pay down the balance? I've literally never carried a balance so this is new territory. Besides finance charges (e.g. APR), are there any other fees? Also, besides the balance being high (e.g. higher utilization) are there any other negative effects on FICO?
Yes, and with interest rates still fairly high this is free money with no risk in exchange for a slightly lower credit score. There are no finance charges unless you don't pay the balance before the 0% rate ends. I'm not an expert on how Fico scores are calculated but it will drop your score some until you pay it off.

34 minutes start to finish. Basically just waiting for a live agent. Once the agent was available it took less than two minutes. I did get the 0% but I wonder if it's because I haven't used the card in over a year and it has a zero balance. I figure they gave me the 0% to entice me to use it.

Not really.. been doing this for years in a row alot of it is due to cred score... History and such, there system can offer you two deals at the same time.., I had two offers a few months back when I was inquiring about 0% again and they offered that or 11% apr I went with 0 of course never carry a balance so 11 isn't a deal to me

Credit scores also look at % utilization on the card itself (along with total utilization on all your cards). If one card is above 30% (or 40%), then your score drops. Once you pay it off, your score comes back up. I just paid off a 0% interest card that had 37% utilization and my score came back up to previous score (830 to 837, small number but good to know it was that card balance).

The risk assumption of high utilization is bankruptcy to offload debt. Although that isnt always a great route.. cause its a 7y hit on credit.. although if you have like 100k of student loans the Dems did not lift a finger to help with, it would be worth loading that up on dischargable debt credit. Once per 20 years.

I did this a few years ago where I got the 0% rate for a year and I invested the money instead of paying the balance. I noticed my credit score which was over 800 took a pretty substantial hit because I was carrying a large balance. I can't remember how much it went down though. I had a lot of unused credit on other cards so it was only a small portion of my credit used and I was surprised that it affected my score as much as it did.

I mean...okay? Yes if you carry debt your credit score will go down unless you're going to be using it to apply for a loan or credit card it shouldn't matter much in the grand scheme

Complete garbage bank and customer service.

I strongly advise against it.

Salt Lake City based company has zero support when things don't work or go wrong.

Only bank I have seen worse than this is Citi brand. Discover is the lowest of the low.
I don't comment much but this is wrong. They have US based support and it's quite good. I've had a couple things I've called about in my years with them and every encounter was pleasant and they were genuinely helpful. Not sure what happened to you but I have nothing but good experiences with their support.

I got the 0% for 12 months, and they credited back a couple hundred dollars for the interest charged last month. Winner 🏆 thanks OP

Edit: this was 24 hours apart.

So mine was approved pretty quick. My wife tried and it was denied just as quick. Should she retry or will she just get the same result?

If at first you don't succeed… Went on chat the other day, and the rep told me I could only get the 0% offer if I opened a new card. Tried again today, and the rep applied the 0% promo to my account in about two minutes. Thanks, OP!

You able to break down how you invest with this?
Like I'm just borrowing from Peter to pay Paul?
CC=you just pay your items with this offer?
There's no direct correlations with CC balance to investing is where I'm at.

Avg savings account is 4.5% which is something, but not super great @EOY either.
Probably CD or fed bonds if going the best next to no risk route.
Then you make the minimum payment and you're good?
Just ensure you set a reminder and set aside to payoff at end of promotion?
