On the old version of these cases you could easily remove the plastic molding lining the lid to gain a little more interior volume.

Can you do that with this version? It looks like maybe they're molded differently and you can't do that anymore, but it's hard to tell from the photos.

The drawers are interchangeable. It's cheaper if you get two 3 drawers and rearrange the drawers to be a 4 and 2 drawer.

It has been at this price for a couple weeks. I got it last year at this price too. The medium box is also back to the sale price last year. The XL box is $10 more than last year.

Yeah, if you intend to use these style boxes for heavier mechanic tools these are in my experience the best over all especially at the price. I am a traveling mechanic and have used them all at this point. The Milwaukee sags worse with weight in the drawers, so much so that it can become hard to close them easily. Toughbuilt doesn't have flat drawer bottoms and no where to lock the drawers. Dewalt isnt as bad but for the money I'm sticking to Ridgid drawer sets.

I got the medium for that reason and it was a little oversized. Ended up using it for my truck straps and tools. This small would be good.

Or the Milwaukee packout 2/3 drawer for $100-150 a pop. There are decent deals at acme tools right now.

I prefer the 2 drawer because powertools are too big to fit the 3 drawer.

You don't want just stackable boxes cause you have to keep restacking to get one tool out.
This is why I am returning the Milwaukee packout. I absolutely love the concept and everything I have is Milwaukee BUT they don't have a rolling system like rigid. I love the true modular form factor of this design. It's a give and take tho. The rigid is great because now I have the 3 drawer as the rolling box and the toolbox on top,so I don't have to unstack anything. The downside is the rigid drawers are about 1" smaller length /width and that actually changed where I could put some tools like hammers and long pliers. Also the rigid handle does not get small enough and the packouts locking mechanism is far superior. I commute with an old Prius to NYC, so I have to put the handle in the back seat and the box's in the hatch but it's well worth it. Having the rolling box have the drawers is an absolute game changer and I'm in dis belief Milwaukee doesn't have that.

Also, you can sell the Packout with ease and get most of your $$$ back. RIDGID is still nice but can't beat the Milwaukee addiction.. lol..
