Shows how overprice nvidia is. This card beats the rtx 4060ti with more vram, yet that 4060ti card is even more expensive than this.

If you don't need ray tracing then yes. It is more power hungry than the newer cards from both AMD and Nvidia but pure rasterization is good with this card.

Hmm... after looking at a few reviews/benchmarks/etc I'd probably go with the 7700xt deal here

Seems like the 7700XT is equal to or slightly faster than the RX6800 on average, however RT and FSR seem to be better on the 7700xt. It does seem like games moving forward will favor GPUs with better RT/FSR performance.

Here is a video of Space Marine 2, a relatively new game, showing that the 7700XT performs closer to the 6900XT which is very impressive. Of course this is just one very specific game so this is probably a unique situation.

Here are some numbers from the 7700XT on release showing it was closer to the RX6800

So as time goes on the 7700XT should age a little better for future titles overall.

I picked this up 3 weeks ago at Microcenter for $281 as open box/clearance (after $25 off coupon), so it's really hard for it to even drop to $300 as that is 6700 XT / 6750 XT range.

6800 is amazing, as I can run any new AAA game at 4K60 Ultra with my 5600X.

TLDR no I don't think 12GB VRAM is a problem today and for the next few years as long as you understand how to lower VRAM usage in the graphics settings.

This is a really tough question to answer tbh. IMO no, you can always turn textures down a little bit to alleviate any VRAM problems but you can't get more fps if the GPU can't deliver the framerate necessary. 12GB of VRAM should be good for a bit, by the time 12GB of VRAM is a major issue you'll most likely already be looking for a new GPU upgrade since the framerates will be too low already.

In the case of say the Space Marine 2 video for example, the 6800 can only deliver 63 fps with 53 lows at 1440p Ultra while the 7700xt is delivering 75 fps with 67 lows at 1440p Ultra.
As newer future titles come out, that should mean that the 7700xt will be able to maintain a smoother 60fps+ experience for a longer period of time where as the 6800 is already dipping below the 60fps bar today. Of course this all depends on exactly what kind of games you play, what framerate you consider "acceptable", your personal GPU upgrade cycle, etc...

Another reason I don't think 12GB of VRAM will be a problem is because Nvidia controls the majority of the market share right now. Nvidia makes a lot of GPUs with only 12GB of VRAM and even less than 12GB, so most game devs will target 12GB of VRAM.
