Em, you buy food for sustainance first. A lot of work and resources goes into making the food. The money you pay for it doesn't actually reflect the value of the food in those terms.

When you return food, it goes to waste and is not resold. They just put it in trash. If the food is not spoiled and you just don't like the taste, please give it away to friends/family/local soup kitchen/neighbourhood bum. You will be out of a few dollars, but you'll be respecting the life sustaining value of food, the environment, and all the hard work that went into producing it.

I swear I hate people who return opened food just because they don't like the flavor/taste.

Should really cancel their memberships.

This bottle is way too big to fit up my sleeve, but at least it's one of the major four food groups.

Happy Holidays!

I just buy the Specially Selected brand maple syrup (12.5 oz) at Aldi for $5.49. It's pretty good. Not sure I need any bourbon flavor. But it may taste great, so don't want to trash this syrup and deal.

Someone mentioned honey instead, but maple syrup has a lower glycemic index. Meaning better for your glucose and blood sugar levels in avoiding prediabetes.

THe high % of their Revenue from memberships is well documents and communicated. May not be exactly 70% but it is HIGH
You are thinking profits and you are correct. Costco sells at low margins so most profits are from memberships.

You need to cancel membership of those that leave frozen foods in non frozen aisle. Or a rotisserie chicken elsewhere.

Maple syrup is on of my favorite things to baste on salmon while I grill it. It's just amazing. It's also terrific on turkey. If the bourbon flavor is too strong I will just mix in some regular maple syrup.

Can't you just add some bourbon to your maple syrup ? Or better just have a glass.

Even on sale this is roughly twice the price of organic maple syrup at Costco… pretty sure you should just buy the normal maple syrup

It is technically. If you really love bourbon, maybe you'll like this.

Just don't go in thinking you will love this because any maple syrup is fine. Those are the people returning this to Costco.
People are returning this? I love maple syrup (used to get B grade) and got this just because of the hype even though I don't really have pancakes or waffles, like ever. This syrup was good. Thinner than I am used to but still very good. Can't say I tasted any bourbon flavor though.

Ok this thread has turned into a thread about returning or not returning. So I will add.. I recently returned their string cheese as it was hard and not like it has been or should be. I feel that by returning it, is the way the buyers of Costco get feedback that their suppliers are failing and not providing the quality food that was tested and anticipated. With a rise in returns it helps Costco correct a problem and deliver the quality they were striving for.

Costco carries three maple syrups (on the west coast at least) a standard organic in a tan plastic container that's fairly dark and rich flavor, one in a glass bottle with a pop top that is very messy but the syrup has a very light flavor heavy in vanilla, and this one which is by far my favorite. They carry this one throughout the year but it's very rich and you can really taste the bourbon barrel flavor.. all three are excellent in coffee Big Grin

We use maple syrups in our coffees, my husband loves this one! I stocked up on the special edition maple leaf one as well. It's a much deeper taste than the regular kirkland maple syrup, which i also still buy for the kids and for breakfast things 😁 big maple syrup fans over here. Ill check my costco when i go today! Thanks
Yes it makes an awesome coffee sweetener.

Canadian whiskey is as tasteless as rubbing alcohol. I wouldn't try this syrup as a result.
