In general, no.

By nature of you even asking the question, the answer to this kind of question will always be no, nobody can explain this to you in a way that will make sense. It's like asking why someone would pay a lot for steak when you could just eat ramen. You'll never be able to explain to that person why something is "better" if they've reduced the value of the item to merely being "food".

This isn't meant to be insulting, if you have a $15 backpack and are happy with it, live your life. There is no reason to wonder why anybody else spends what they spend on theirs.

Smokin deal. This price only happens a few times/yr...meaning 2 or 3 times so I wouldn't wait if you're on the hunt for this backpack. FWIW, I love mine. Been using it for both work and family travel since it was released. It's waterproof (with waterproof zippers) so it keeps your laptop safe in the rain (I can personally vouch for this), can handle 2-3 days of clothes for short trips (fits 2 Nomatic medium packing cubes), magnetic bottle holders so they "stick" to the side of the backpack even after they're stretched out, has a separate sleeve for shoes/sandals, fits my work 16" m3 macbook pro easily, and even when fully loaded it always sits upright. Always. Once you realize how handy that little design perk is you never want to go back. You can always do a drive by and scoop it up by the top handle without fail. And last, it fits under airplane seats without an issue. For travel purposes, I can't imagine a better backpack.

4+ lbs for a 20L bag is pretty heavy. This is a bag for travel, and when you carry it around all day, every ounce of weight matters.

Was looking for a day pack and bag to bring as personal item on plane (won't be 100% packed to the expansion size), was going to try the osprey day lite plus but saw this and grabbed it. Hopefully will fill my needs.

Can i return it at costco if dont like?
I don't think so, but if you find out otherwise let me know. I purchased from Costco Next before for the smaller Nomatic backpack and I believed you have to return to them directly and with a shipping fee.

Did you buy the warehouse one online? Could you please share the link?

Edit: Please ignore.

Does anyone know how the returns work for this item? Can I return in store or have to work with the vendor?

Anyone has this can recommend this? I am watching their youtube overview and looks promising. $154.99 with no tax is definitely tempting. Wonder if 20L is too big for daily use.

I very briefly checked out the Essential bag in the warehouse and it was noticeably heavy. The shell material was thick vinyl-like material and I think the panels are padded, plus all the straps add weight. I think I'll order the Next version though to try out. I hate how my current packs do not stand up on their own.

This is an excellent bag and the price is right. This is my go to bag for shorter trips and I use a Cotopaxi Allpa 42L for longer trips. This bag is a bit heavy, but the organization is nice and it's designed beautifully. I had the older model of the Travel pack and one of the zippers pulled apart from the stitching. I reached out to their warranty department and I they shipped a new model without very many questions. The new model has better YKK zippers, so this should not be an issue. Highly recommend Nomatic for this reason.

Can someoone explain to me why this is worth $155 when a 30L packable backpack with unpadded laptop pocket from Amazon (#1 best seller) is $15? (5yrs later after using it almost every other week for weekend trips still holds up well)

I grabbed this from Costco last year when it was on sale. I've been using this backpack for the last year, it is outstanding. If you are carrying your laptop to work everyday, this is the one to get.

It's not that heavy unless you have a small frame
what would be considered a small frame for this bag?
