I bought this unit 4 years ago for $228, part of Walmart's early Black Friday deals. I set it up for home theater. It works great.

Same here. When I went to pick it up, to my joyous surprise they upgraded me to the 70" version, apparently they were doing that with everyone who bought the 65". $228 was a legit price back then for a 65", but was an absolute steal for 70".
The sad thing is that it just started making a weird high-pitched noise, I can't hear it much but it drives my wife crazy. I'm hoping for a good 70" deal this year to replace it.
Got this same model 4yrs back for 228 , but not upgraded to a 70 on pickup, might be store specific. Pretty good quality and still using as my primary tv .

No one knows. Some speculation about several low-cost TV manufacturers.

I have never used the TV speakers. I run sound thru my stereo system, a 5.1 speaker configuration.

Unfortunately, you can't sideload the 'good' apps to Roku like you can with android

Roku interface is less busy and easier to use - which is nice especially for older people. If they made the remote buttons programmable, it would be perfect.

My opinion is Tsinghua Tongfang Co., Ltd. They also manufacture Element, Westinghouse, Seiki and are a OEM for other companies. I have 2 ONN 50" tv's manufactured when you could still get a dumb tv. I have had one apart and replaced the back lights the LCD panel was manufactured by Innolux. Innolux was formed by the merger of Chi Mei Optoelectronics and TPO Displays Corp.
The ONN warranty is also handled by Element .

Either way, I am sure its made in China

I miss the days where you could buy an Insignia Plasma and you could tell right from the board it was a Samsung

Thanks. Reenforcing my other theory. So TCL, HiSense and Tsinghua are the 3 main China players? Partially or fully owned by the Chinese government

This may be the last Black Friday to get a good deal before the tariffs hit.

Bought this in July for the same price. Burned out a couple days ago. Let's see how the warranty process goes.
